Daisy and a virtual tour of the new apartment

I adopted my kitty today from the Berea Animal Rescue shelter--"kitty" being the operative word. Daisy (as she was named at the shelter--I decided to stick with it), is about four years old, but I really wanted to rescue an adult cat from a shelter. Obviously, the adults don't get adopted nearly as quickly as kittens, and some end up at the shelter for years... Anyway, Daisy is beautiful. She is a small, long-haired calico. She's actually all white on her stomach, chest and legs. But she has beautiful reddish-brown calico markings on her face, head, back and tail.

She had only been at the shelter since June, but even a few months is too long and I fell in love with her right away. She's a real lover and was showing off her purring motor at the shelter. It only took me about five minutes to know that she was "my" cat.

She's been doing really well at the apartment today, too, considering everything... She likes to chill out under the couch, but will usually come out if I lie next to the couch and talk to her. She also comes out on her own about every hour to check out a little more of the apartment. I'm sure it will only take a few days for her to get used to me and all the open space at the apartment. However, right now she's still a little skittish. I tried to take some pics of her while she was out from under the couch, but as soon as I even picked up the camera she would scurry back underneath. So, maybe tomorrow. However, I went ahead and took one of her under the couch so I could at least give an idea of what she looks like...

(Ignore the tractor beam eyes...)

Duck and cover!

And now, for a virtual tour of my apartment... (the photos are a little grainy, but, you know what? I'm too lazy to re-take them. :)

My front entry way...I need some stuff on that table (and perhaps a mirror on the wall above it?). I don't think that candle will stay, but it's acting as a "place-holder" for now.

Looking into the living room from the entry way.

Living room from the side.

Lollapaloooooza poster!

Desk and bookshelf: aka "the study"

Dining table... this thing took my over FIVE hours to put together. Five.

My compact kitchen. But yay for having a gas stove again. :)

My cool peg board for my pots and pans. It was already here when I moved in, but I think I'm going to paint it a color at some point. Oooooh, project!

My lovely bathroom.

My bedroom--with the Wilco poster in the place of honor.

More bedroom.

So, I still need a couple rugs and some curtains and some more stuff for the walls, but that stuff will come once I start making/saving some money. But I feel very well-furnished. It's a little weird having "adult" furniture--but weird in a good way.

I have plenty of room for guests (I even purchased a queen-sized air mattress), so if you want to see this place in person, you're more than welcome. :)
