It's quiet, for once; no moaning, no screaming or gunfire either. The zombies were probably still out there, but this rare time of peace, whatever--he knew he should make the most of it.
It may be some time before this Contractor could get used to the constant run of unexplainable events going on in this damn city. Mao in fact felt very uncomfortable being all by himself, and not knowing why Yin had left the apartment while he had been sleeping.
Some hours ago in the night, Hei's quiet calm voice had caused him to stir. "I'm going out for a while. I'll try not to be too long," he said.
He also said to look after Yin until he came back, to which Mao had responded, "No problem... Don't get eaten." Of course, knew that would never happen--for he said that last part as a joke. Zombies were small fry compared to the countless numbers of other Contractors Hei had killed.
Usually, Hei would have smirked and said some drywall humor remark in return to his quip. This time, the other Contractor just nodded without saying a word, and moved to unlock the door. Something was a little off, but Mao assumed that the whole zombie thing was still getting on Hei's nerves. The cat felt the same way.
Just after Mao heard the door close, Hei locking it from the outside, he closed his eyes and went back to sleep...
Hei never returned since then. As soon as the sun came up, Mao woke up and stretched. He leaped off of the couch and looked toward the bed Yin had been asleep in, to which was only some feet away. It was empty, and unmade. After spending a little bit of time searching the rest of the small living space, at the last minute, he had noticed the door being left open as he stepped out. From the moment he saw this, he suspected that something was very wrong.
He sat on the concrete a few feet away from the entrance. He looked to his left, then right--Hei and Yin appeared to be nowhere nearby.
Had Hei thought about taking his ear piece, before he left? The first logical thing to do was to speak into the communicator device that was built inside the gold bell on his collar. Tension was in his voice as he spoke. "Hei; respond. Yin stepped out without saying anything... Is she with you?"
After half a minute of silence--no one speaking, no static, nothing--Mao's blue-violet eyes narrowed. Damn. If he has the earplug with him, it's probably turned off... Where the hell are they-
Just then, he remembered about the investigative unit Hei, Chris by text from his cell phone, and Mao had all agreed to assemble. He also remembered how ridiculously easy it was to hack into the city's internet server. With his hacking skills and computer chip lodged somewhere on his small cat brain, he had been able to contact anyone from afar using his wireless internet connection.
As all this was processing in mind, he closed his eyes and focused his thoughts to send a text message to any device that could connect to Infinity's server, his email address once more encrypted and hidden to the public:
"It's Mao again. Anyone who has met me and joined a unit to solve the zombie mystery... Let's call it IIU, short for Infinity Investigations Unit. Anyone from that meeting should know who this is.
Everyone else; there's no time for explanations.
My two friends, a Chinese man wearing a serious expression and a silver haired blind girl in a dress, have gone AWOL since last night. Their names are Hei and Yin. I am unable to establish contact.
Does anyone know the whereabouts of the two people I have described?
Hei; if you're reading this... Please say Yin is with you.|"
((OoC: LOL Hei and Yin
vanished to another nexus for a little while. Since the
Unit Meeting Thread is unfinished, let's just say that everyone who's responded are the first number of volunteers to help put a halt to the invasion of the undead by now.
From this point, you could either reply by texting a response to Mao's widespread internet message, or you could place your character near Mao, this black cat in a red collar who appears to be sitting in place with his eyes closed. Lol, anyone can easily mistake him for meditating.))
