Drumroll please...

I'm moving to Asheville!

Goodbye, O-town... hello, glorious Blue Ridge mountains!

It's been awhile in coming, but I'm finally free to post it on the world wide web. I put in my resignation this morning, and in three weeks I'm outta here, baby! I'm excited, scared, and a bit sad. I've made so many good friends here, it's like a surrogate family. But times are a'changing... not just for me but for everyone. And so this is my contribution to the big sea swell of change.

There's so much that I have to do before I leave. Like have a killer goodbye party at the Palace for one. I have vowed to be the last person there that night, since I'm notorious for leaving a party early. I have a feeling I'm going to be there very, very late as some people put me to the test. My weekends are already jammed, so I don't really know when I'm going to be doing all this packing and cleaning that needs to get done. Maybe a little each night. We all know how great I am at that.

I'm moving to Asheville, I'm moving to Asheville... sweet sigh. I told Josh that for my Christmas present I want him to take me to the Biltmore Estate. For the holidays they decorate it up all fancy and if you go in the evening, it's candlelit, there's live music, the huge ancient fireplaces are roaring... and there will probably even be snow on the ground. How lovely!

This is one of those decisions that make me feel like I'm the person I want to be. It's gutsy, it's brave, it's what I want to look back in 20 years and say that I did. I'm excited.

If only I didn't need a car. Mine is getting rather finnicky in its old age. I pray that it will give me another 5 years without costing me and arm and a leg.

Just daydream with me for a minute...

Fireplaces in the winter time with snow falling softly outside.
Sunrises and sunsets over the Blue Ridge mountains.
Four seasons and perfect mountain weather.
Rivers and creeks and green fields and onion grass and whitewashed fences and waterfalls...

Bliss.

Everyone keeps coming by the cube to get the story and offer congratulations. And see my boss about giving her their daughter's/niece's/neigbor's resume for my position. And that's the way the bureaucracy crumbles.
