Chapter Twenty-Two
“Hey, Torres, welcome back,” Mark said to Callie as they passed in the hallway.
“Yeah,” she said unenthused. "I'm back."
“Whoa, angry lady, what’s wrong?” the man asked. “Not ready to be back? Bone-breaking not good enough?”
“I’m ready,” the brunette shrugged. “I just miss her.”
“So Arizona’s on baby duty today?” Mark asked.
“Yes,” Callie smiled. “And they were so freaking cute this morning. It was hard to leave. Arizona was being Supermom and Sofia was...well, she's like crack.”
“Geez, Torres. You had a baby and went soft.”
Callie agreed. “I did.”
Mark laughed.
“Oh, one day, you’ll understand the yearning.”
“I hope so,” he said.
“You will, Sloan,” the brunette warned. “When you Lexie have one, you’ll feel the same way.”
“Well, for now, I’ll to settle for being Sofia’s godfather and extremely cool Uncle Mark.”
Cristina brushed past them depositing a chart on the desk of the nurse’s station.
“Hey Yang, have you seen Hunt? I need a consult,” Callie asked woman upon seeing her.
“Fuck Owen, he’s dead to me.” Cristina spewed before hurrying off.
“Eighteen months, Sloan,” the brunette said to the man when Yang had made it around the corner. “Pay up, sucka.”
“Dammit,” Meredith groaned as she appeared from the opposite direction. “I had two years.”
“What can I say?” Callie gloated. “I know these things.”
“How’s life with Zola?” Mark asked the resident.
“We’re still getting settled in,” Meredith replied. “Derek and I will be relieved when the adoption is finalized, but it’s been amazing so far.”
“That’s awesome,” Callie said sincerely. Then she winced at her use of that word. “Sorry, Arizona’s influence.”
“That’s alright,” Grey smiled. “It is pretty awesome.”
"Awesome?" Mark asked. "The badass is leaking out of you like a sieve."
"How 'bout I break your arm and then put it back together?" Callie threatened him. "How many badass points will that earn me?"

“Hey,” Arizona whispered as she appeared behind Callie.
“Oh my goodness,” the brunette clapped with glee at the sight of her wife and baby. She immediately slipped her hands into the baby bjorn at pulled little Sofia out to hold her.
She kissed Arizona briefly, but with enough passion to make a young intern stop and stare. Mueller, who was following behind the intern, smacked him. “Don’t ogle my lesbians,” the Ortho hopeful, who had become an honorary member of the family, told the guy.
“Thank you for this,” Callie told her wife, cuddling their daughter.
“We figured Mommy was probably going out of her mind missing us.”
“Momma and Sofia were right,” Callie said in her voice reserved for the baby. “I did miss the two of you so much.”
“Oh, it’s Baby Doc,” Alex said using his nickname for the little girl. “Hey Sofia, you're such a cute baby,” he cooed until he noticed both women looking at him. “What? She’s cute. Whatever.”
“This is the luckiest baby in the world,” Cristina pointed to Sofia while checking the baby out from a safe distance, holding an empty tray to ward off any unwanted baby attacks.
“Aw, thanks Yang,” the blonde said genuinely.
“You should be thanking me. She’s the luckiest baby in the world because I’m her godmother.”
“Oh,” Arizona’s delight at Cristina’s compliment faded quickly.
“Look at you, two moms and a baby. Such a cute, happy little family,” Cristina said with affection, despite her sneer. “I wanna puke.”
And then she did.

“I’m so happy for Teddy,” Arizona told her wife as she entered from the nursery with Sofia after changing a diaper.
“Me too,” Callie agreed while pressing play on the remote for Montana Knight's Best Moments.
"Not again," the blonde sighed. "We've watched it 25 times, Calliope."
"Oh yes, again."
"Fine," Arizona groaned at Callie's insistence. "This is the last time."
"Sure," the brunette lied. "So when is the big date for Teddy and Henry's wedding?"
“Nothing specific quite yet, except Medicat is going to wear a pink tux and be the Ring Meower,” the blonde laughed.
“Of course,” Callie teased. "Should match his fingerclaws."
"Apparently I'll have to lead him down the aisle with treats."
"Fantastic," the Ortho surgeon sighed. "Why do I already see this ending up with me rolling under pews with a feather on a stick?"
"You should be so lucky, Calliope Torres," the blonde winked, then rubbed noses with her little girl. "Isn't that right, Sofia?"
Callie patted the couch, "Bring your amazingly beautiful self and our incredibly adorable baby over here."
“I bet you that Cristina is pregnant,” Arizona said softly as she nestled Sofia in her arms and leaned back against her wife on the couch.
“Not a chance,” Callie contended while brushing her daughter’s hair with her forefinger. “I saw her wolf down a tuna fish sandwich from the cafeteria. That couldn’t have ended well.”
“Well, if she is, Sofia will have another little pal,” the blonde laced her fingers with her wife’s and Callie kissed Arizona’s shoulder before resting her chin there. “Along with Zola.”
“Hmm, babe. You think we should let our kid play with Cristina’s kid?”
“You’re the one who made Cristina our kid’s godmother.”
“Yeah, I really should have thought that out. She's already special ordered a scalpel with Sofia's name engraved on it. Nothing says caring and nurturing like having your godchild's name printed on a knife,” Callie said. “But hey, what about you picking Mark?”
“You swore you’d never tell him that was my idea, Calliope!”
“Okay, okay.”
"Promise!" The blonde held up her pinky in the universal pinky promise gesture.
Callie looped their pinkies together, "I promise."
Arizona kissed her daughter’s head and smiled, “It’s been a pretty good year or so, huh?”
“The best.”
