Seriously though?

Today I came home to a leak in my ceiling and a puddle on my floor. Because fate forefend anything being easy.

As I was due to catch a train in all of 50 mins I “persuaded” the lazy one at the rental agency to get me a plumber. (“we close in 5 mins”… well, I’m sure you do, lady. But there’s a hole in my ceiling and my floor is awash with water so you can just stay on an extra minute and call me a damn plumber. ‘K?!! Gragh. I like the other lady who works there better).

Plumbers came very quickly bless ‘em and swiftly found the source of the problem. Apparently, putting a bucket under a leak in the roof is not a permanent solution… who knew? Not the LAST set of plumbers called in to fix the problem LAST WINTER. This lot of plumbers were disgusted.

So I have a newly emptied bucket in the roof space to hold me until the landlord shells out for a roofer, a bucket in the front room until the insulation stops dripping (oh yeah, I have soaked insulation up there too, probably rotting the joists that hold the roof up. Fun times). The plumbers couldn’t take away the insulation on case they then got blamed when the rotted ceiling fell in. Fair.enough I said, they’d been nice enough to empty my bucket for me anyway.

So, yeah. That was this evening. Now I have to go to Dublin and run/cycle a race in the snow.

grumbles, rage
