So Rachel Flatt apparently won Junior Worlds. Wow. Who would have imagined?! (Well, maybe some people imagined it, but I don't really follow the ladies, especially juniors, so I was shocked!) Her score was only 0.35 points higher than Caroline Zhang's. Hmmm, I wonder if they rounded that the proper way, or the USFSA way? (yes, still bitter)
However, this video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xl_M2PAfyE of junior men's medal ceremony made me giggle. First of all, the guy that won is wearing an outfit that resembles a love-child of Johnny's and Takahashi's Olympic free skate costumes. LOL. He has unfortunate hair, though, and realizes it when he gets on the podium. It's okay, sweetie, bad hair is a long-standing tradition in men's skating. You'll fit right in. ;)
But I digress. The STAR of this video is the second place Russian guy. With an interesting variation of the "Russian Mullet " on his head he delivers what is arguably the best bitch-face of the season. His bitch-face rivals Evan's at the COC medal ceremony. However, the mulleted Russian takes it a step further. He DOESN'T shake hands with the winner! LOL (I know it's rude, but it's also amusing to no end!)
So, after the no shake hands incident, there is much tension on the podium (Maybe they'll come to blow?! Maybe they'll pull each other's bad hair?! I'm at the edge of my seat!) until the Chinese kid shows up (in a lovely outfit, may I add) and like the dove of peace cuts the tension by firmly shaking hands with everyone and dissipating the tension. Anthem is played, blah, blah, blah.
We need more stuff like this in seniors. None of that forced polite smiles and "I'm so happy for you" (NOT!) bullshit! The audience wants to be entertained!
