Day 3: On the Ohio Valley Line (9/10)

Sep 11, 2021 00:21

CINCINNATI - It’s concert night, but once again with little to do, we had breakfast at Wild Eggs at the recommendation of my friend (and former Lexington resident) Alissa.

The slow road to Cincinnati took us to a river ferry and a fittingly quick visit to the William Henry Harrison Memorial before landing on the UC campus.

It was fortuitous timing that we showed up on the Cincinnati campus the day they’re invited to the Big 12. We dined in the end-zone café and wandered around the basketball arena before heading crosstown to Xavier University.

We killed some more time catching a bit of a volleyball match at the Cintas Center between Louisville and Purdue. (Turns out, both teams were ranked.) And then it was off to our prepaid room of the trip (Comfort Inn) before heading in to town.

The plan was to park at the Hard Rock Casino (free), have dinner, and take the trolley to the stadium for the concert. Well, given the nightside schedule and a note that the upcoming car would not complete the circuit around the downtown, we walked all the way (downhill) to the stadium.

No problem, as the concert didn’t start until about 8:20. And 25 or so songs later, we let out at a little after 10:30 - plenty of time before the trolley shut down for the night.

En route back to the casino, we learned that claustrophobic drunks aren’t the best co-passengers on mass transit after an event.
