COLUMBUS - Poor planning on my part: I should have found something to do on Tuesday so I could’ve had all Labor Day week off, but what can you do?
Then again, the Billy Joel concert is my birthday present from last year, so I guess timeliness isn’t the priority.
Stretching things as it was, we headed to Columbus - hitting rain in Athens - allowing the Reds fan in the car to finally sample some
Skyline Chili. (Correction: He’s had Skyline Chili at a Reds game or two, but never at a Skyline restaurant.)
I then introduced Chad to the Ohio State Capitol, complete with underground parking garage. (Why more state capitols don’t jump on this opportunity, I don’t know.)
After the self-tour, we checked in to our first free hotel room of the trip at the Hyatt Regency in the Arena District.
With crowds limited this year, sports teams have been a little more variable with their start times. In today’s case, the Clippers started their game at 6:15, but since we were in walking distance, fighting rush hour traffic was not a problem.
