Day 8 (8/3): Empire State of Mind

Aug 03, 2018 22:47

Today was the long drive home, and since Chad couldn’t find a suitable-to-him place for breakfast, it was a direct departure from the hotel - except for a stop at the New York/Pennsylvania state line for a fill-up on gas - non-stop to Canton.

And unlike fellow DuPontian Randy Moss (c/o 95), whose likeness will be staying here a while, we stopped at the appropriately themed TD’s Tailgate Grill for lunch. We timed it perfectly, as a pop-up shower came and went during our burgers.

Before leaving town, I introduced Chad to William McKinley - or at least I tried to. I took Chad directly to the hilltop mausoleum, not realizing that we needed a code from the museum at the base of the hill to access the elevator. So instead, Chad handed me his camera.

As for the ride home, we took advantage of Billboard’s 60th anniversary by listening to some of XM’s presentation of all the number-one pop hits in chronological order. For us, it was like the early ‘80s all the way home.
