Kissing his ash goodbye

After a two-week wait at what must be the state's only crematorium, PaPa was interred today. (I was under the presumption he would be scattered to the four winds, but then again, who needs MaMa complaining about it for all eternity?)

Delivering the eulogy was a Catholic priest who had ridden four-wheelers with PaPa. Apparently, PaPa didn't subscribe to stereotypes as he had always called Irish Father Cooney "Padre."

Then the Masons stepped in and did their little thing, surrounding the family in a circle to perform their ceremony. (I questioned Chad: "Are we going to be taken up to the mother ship?" Chad has no sense of humor.)

During the ceremony, what else should happen but several four-wheelers driving by, as if in salute? Hah!

Now the shuffling begins:
My uncle now wants the acre of land Chad and I co-own, which is fine. It encompasses a broken-down house about 500 feet from my uncle's place. Dad said there's no timber revenue available (as there is elsewhere on the property), so cash me out.

My aunt is signing Chad, my cousin, and me up as her new benificiaries. So if her under-remission breast cancer strikes back with a vengeance, I get a pony! (...to which she introduces me as "your cousin." Whee.)
