Wow, what a blow. :/ Lying to your family and loved ones about a terminal illness is just cruel. But I wonder how you could possibly keep that kind of a secret for 2 years?
our new worship pastor loves hillsong and we play quite a few of their songs. they're crap. i'm trying to get him into something like silas, but he's not having it. he's from the midwest...
Haha. Could be worse. We do some really interesting stuff at church now, but every once in awhile something slips in that has a total blast from the past Tom Jones cheese fest going on.
i don't mind the cheese. i love cheesy goodness. but this is not cheesy goodness at all. it's just bad worship writing. i realized a while ago what was bother me about his music choices. There's nothing about a personal relationship with Christ, nothing about needing a savoir, etc. The songs basically consist of stringing one Christian cliche after another together until you reach two verses and one chorus. I keep thinking... can't we do any better?
Yeah, i definitely have enjoyed some of the songs that he's chosen and i love the people at my church, heck, i helped plant it. I just don't want to see that new life shrivel away with a lack of depth.

It makes all of us Christians look weak and it turns more people away from God and the church than the good it can possibly do.
Maybe point out the positives in your church - like your favorite worship songs, teachings, etc. and that will attract better feelings about God.
Makes sense, right?
