I know... isn't it disgusting! That is the main reason we focus on these shelters. It's horrible any animal has to die but to be gassed is the cruelest death imaginable.
We are working on getting things changed but it takes time.
Appreciate all your help. 8 of the most urgent dogs will be picked up from Coweta tomorrow morning. Got to get them before 8am or they will die. Our rescue person had jury duty and couldn't get them today but they assured us they would hold them until the morning. 4 from Spaulding will be picked up Monday. Paperwork already in on them so they should be safe till then. Now trying to figure out how to help the rest. Each dog saved costs about 250.00 to get them pulled, vetted (spayed/neutered), boarding fees and then transport usually up North where there are no kill shelters that will take them and find them forever homes.
Sometimes a Canadian rescue group will take some and even pay to have them flown to Canada. Amazing what people will do to help the animals in these gassing shelters.
We also have some Delta airline flight attendants that will take the smaller dogs and keep them in the cabin with them and fly them free from one destination to another as long as it is on their flight plans and someone can pick them up at the airport. They are called the Delta Angels. :)
