It's been a long time since an update, I know. I have been really busy this semester with 19 credit hours plus TAing two lab classes. Anyway, this boils my blood...
http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/02/24/police.honking.ap/index.html Basically, this college kid honked at a cop he saw turn his lights on to run a red light and then turn them off once he got through the light. The cop then pulls the kid over and issues a ticket for violating a noise ordinance by honking his horn at "nothing". The case goes to court and the cop claims he was helping other cops track down a speeder. Oh really? I'm gonna go out on a limb here, but I'm guessing if the cop actually had a real emergency to get to (speeder or otherwise), he wouldn't take the time to stop and issue a ticket to a motorist for violating a noise ordinance. The worst part about it, is the judge buys the cop's story and belittles the kid. Fuck that judge. Even if I believed the cop, I would still be upset at him for wasting time to give this kid a ticket for honking his horn instead of going to get help his fellow cops. It's bad cops and retarded judges that fuck up the justice system. It's a shame we can't pay police, local judges, and public defenders fair wages to attract smarter candidates to achieve a more fair legal system. Instead, we'll just shower professional atheletes with piles of money to get roided up, abuse their spouses, and in general be poor examples for our children. If only we could get our priorities straight...
