I've just returned from an advance screening of Sunshine, which was followed by a live interview of Danny Boyle and Cillian Murphy.
About the film: It became so intense that I felt physically unwell for the last half hour. I haven't quite made out my feelings about its metaphysical message (by which I mean: what that message is), and I'm not certain about its commercial viability, but it's a breathtaking experiment with genre filmmaking. Really, just...wow.
About the director: He's a charmer, that Danny.
About the star: He's rather fidgety and surprisingly short.
Afterward, I walked across the Waterloo Bridge before catching a bus. The exhilaration that comes from looking out over the Thames on a cool, clear night like tonight, seeing the city spread out around you, undisturbed except for the occasionally passing car -- well, that's enough reason to live in London for me.
