Villa de Flora

While in Florida this past June, I had the opportunity to eat at a restaurant my cousin had been raving about for a while. She had been in Orlando for a conference when she had eaten at the Villa de Flora located in the $450-million Gaylord Palms Resort and Conference Center.

Experience The Entire Sunshine State From The Old-World Charm Of St. Augustine And The Festive Island Spirit Of Key West To The Intrigue Of The Everglades And The Opulence Of The Emerald Bay All Under Our Signature 4 and a half Acre Grand Atrium.

Restaurant / Dining Information

Sunset Sam’s Fish Camp - A towering mast of a 60-foot sailboat is the landmark for this restaurant. A tropical oasis of island excitement, the menu features a creative fusion of Floridian and Caribbean favorites, including the freshest seafood prepared to your specifications.

Old Hickory Steakhouse - Take the path through the mysterious Everglades to our rustic steakhouse retreat. Old Hickory has a serious menu in the tradition of the best world-renown steakhouses.

Villa de Flora - This ‘European market’ is set in a grand dining room of an old-world mansion. Chefs stationed at six kitchens invite you to sample their culinary creations. Villa de Flora offers a seasonal market-inspired menu from the countries of the Mediterranean, including France, Italy, Greece, and Spain.

The Villa de Flora was pricey, but worth it. Everything was amazing - incredible food, wonderful service, beautiful decor, lovely atmosphere, etc. We sat outside on the terrace (well inside, considering everything is under the atrium). We went on a Saturday night so the menu was Spanish cuisine. There’s a link to the restaurant’s menu at that Gaylord site which tells which country’s cuisine is on which nights. Afterwards we strolled through the rest of the place, looking in the shops, listening to a live band performing Jimmy Buffett covers at Sunset Sam’s, checking out the alligators in the Everglade area, and going through the St. Augustine section.

Of course, I took a few pics of the lovely culinary presentations. Other people were doing it, too! *g*

Villa de Flora dining experience

Everything was delicious but my favorites were probably the seafood paella and the coconut shrimp with that mango sauce. That was simply wonderful. Sometimes with a buffet, you might find a few things that are great but also other things that aren’t done that well. Not so here. Absolutely everything was done to perfection. A great experience, and I will eat there again.
