But wait, there's more
In addition to my mother and uncle, other family members are also having medical issues. One cousin, age 43, is scheduled to have a colonoscopy this week because she’s been having severe abdominal pain and unexplained weight loss. The husband of another cousin was put in the hospital with chest pains. He’s 40, failed a stress test, and is now scheduled for a heart catheterization. The wife of another cousin has just been diagnosed with cancer - for the fifth time. She’s only 44. Another uncle on my mother’s side of the family has pneumonia right now. Actually, all of these ailing ones are on Mom’s side of the family. No wonder she’s depressed.
I hadn’t been to work since last Monday and looked forward to a sense of normalcy today. I didn’t get it though. I came to work to find very few co-workers here. Two were out today to attend the funerals of family members. One co-worker’s daughter is in the hospital suffering a miscarriage. One co-worker’s father had a heart attack this morning and we just found out he died this afternoon. These people are my co-workers but more importantly my friends and I’m so sad for their losses.

Remarkably, I'm dealing well with everything that's happening. That is, I think I am. I’ve got Spamalot songs running through my head so my frame of mind is arguably good. One should never underestimate an Idle mind. *whistles Always look on the bright side of life*
