Things I learned this weekend.
1.) I am a dork.
I went to fetch some shopping bags for the music department the other day, from the cashwrap. (We were out of the nice big sturdy kind, and needed a few.) While I was up there, crouched behind the cashwrap counter, grabbing some shopping bags, I had this impulse to say "I'm in UR cashwrap, stealin' UR bags". I giggled, but I didn't say it because no one up there at the time would have appreciated it.
In fact, no one on earth may appreciate it, but it was really funny at the time.
2.) The Wii is fun.
I played a little tiny bit today at my mate's house. I tried Monkeyball (what crack addict came up with that game?) and Trauma Center... whatever the name is. The operation one. The Wiimote is way more sensitive than I would have thought, and after oh, forty five minutes or so of playing, my wrist hurt. I think mostly cause they were both real fine motion kinds of games. If I had been hacking and slashing, driving a car or swinging a bat, maybe I would have lasted longer.
3.) Dancing penguins are adorable and fun, heavy handed, lamely delivered eco-messages are not.
We saw Happy Feet. If they had ended the movie at about the forty minute mark, it would have been PERFECT. My advice to anyone seeing it is to go ahead, pay the money, go see it, and walk out when the ecological message stuff starts. You'll know, I won't have to tell you when it is. The rest of the movie is not worth it. It's TOTALLY worth it for the whole first bit with the dancing penguins though. And yes, there ARE more dancing penguins later, but if you walked out, you would have seen all the best parts already. I don't think any of that really spoilered it for anyone.
I really liked the idea of a society based on singing and dancing for communication and courtship. If one could say that I had a "fursona" more than just sort of being a fur, and if one would say that said fursona had a background, this is the sort of society he would have come from. So it was almost like someone had looked into my head and put a pretty damn close picture on the screen (except with penguins and more singing than dancing), at least before the whole thing went to hell.
4.) I am addicted to Torchwood.
We knew this already. It is really, really sad when you go see dancing penguins and one scene reminds you of Torchwood. And all you talk about is Torchwood. Even when you're walking out from the dancing penguins. (Well, I did make it about five minutes out of the movie before I started.)
5.) They are making a movie of Bridge to Terabithia.
God help us all.
6.) My mate actually LIKES Bridge to Terabithia.
God help ME.
7.) World of Warcraft is also addictive.
Even when I was playing with the Wii, which is a marvel of technology if ever I saw one, I was thinking about what order I was going to tackle my quests. Even the kind of innuendo that can lead to sex fun did not lure me away immediately last night. How sad.
8.) I am addicted to Torchwood.
When I finally did decide on a new pet for my Tauren Hunter in WoW, I named him Ianto.
