Okay... sort of a running commentary thing, I spose, as I haven't finished watching it as of starting the post.
Oh my god, poor Ianto! (Do I say that every episode, or what?) "Never knowing a time when it doesn't hurt, every inch of him hurting"? Oh man... Not only does Tosh not want to have heard that thought, I'm not sure I did! Wee bit close to home there, that. On the other hand, can't say it doesn't make me like him more. Now not only is he the background character, the underdog character, but he's the wounded cute young man character. Could they possibly play into any more niches that I'm a sucker for?
Gwen/Owen thoughts are... steamy? Cute? Funny? Yeah. All that. I dunno. I'm mad that Gwen's stepping out on Rhys here, cause Rhys is so bloody NICE. So NICE. He's just a GOOD guy. But... but it's so ... everything I said... with her and Owen.
But Owen's hurting Tosh and that's not cool. Course... he doesn't know.
Gotta say I find it amusing how Tosh wore a shirt that coordinated so perfectly with the cord on the pendant. That wouldn't happen in real life. Okay. It might. I have known women who would do that. It's funny, though.
Oh... Tosh's got it BAD for Owen. *sigh* Office romance. Not going to end well, there. There's Jack/Gwen tension, Owen/Gwen um... yeah, more than tension, Tosh/Owen tension (one sided), and who the hell knows what goes on in Ianto's head except that he's hurting, evidently, quite badly. He needs hugs.
Hehehee... Love the passing thought from someone "How can carrot cake have calories when it'd made of carrots?"
Oh... ADORABLE scene with Jack, Gwen and Owen. Just... ADORABLE. But why doesn't Ianto get to have fun? *sigh* Man, do I know how that goes though, when you're totally the party killer cause you just can't hardly fake a smile. Surely they could just give him a moment or two of fun....?
"Owen's had to TWEAK some of his initial conclusions..."
OMG so funny.
They're so cute.
"I got that it was.. a skeleton."
Jack totally knows they're shagging and he doesn't need a mind reading pendant.
They mentioned UNIT! Woot. Considering UNIT seems to have dropped off the radar completely. Can't say I'd be surprised, really, considering they spent 40 years fucking everything up and being really really """SECRET""".
"They ate eyeballs, they drank blood, they had sex with animals, but they did NOT pluck out each others hearts. Cause, obviously, that would be weird." That's why I like Owen.
Then he has to go and kill it with "Just go over there, do your computer thing and think about shoes, okay?" She totally brought you coffee, Owen, and you'd have to be BLIND to miss that she's got a major crush, and this is how you treat her?!
Uh oh. Jack found out about Tosh's little sideline heroism. This predatory stalking around the table is awfully reminiscent of Carys in "Day One". I don't like the look on his face... and... can she even hear his thoughts? Nothing, yet...
... heee. Jack's hair is all spiky. Um. There was no point to that.
Hm. I don't think she CAN read his thoughts. She tried... and failed. This is intriguing. And... it almost seems like he could TELL that she was trying. Hrm.
Kay, the seeing the bones thing is a little weird, but I think the alien is gorgeous. REALLY nice bit of CG there. Beautiful.
Doesn't anyone on this show wear their wristwatch on the lefthand side? Both Owen and Jack wear their watches lefthanded (on the righthand side). With Jack, it's because he's got the wrist 'puter, I think, except I seem to recall seeing John Barrowman wearing his watch on the right when he's NOT in character. So, I could see there being one lefthanded guy on set, but Owen too? Either they've got an interesting sample of people, or lefthandedness is less rare than it has been in my experience. Or, Owen's righthanded and wears his watch on the right for... some... strange...reason?
Okay, mock me. I just tried to move my mouse cursor off the video, and it was OWEN'S cursor on OWEN'S screen.
I'm not entirely sure whether Jack's Vincent/Vanessa story is a rather normal transsexual story or an alien takeover story. You never can tell. It's Jack.
Hehehe. He got so excited about the alien thingy his voice cracked. Whooboy do I know about that, these days.
Um. Ew. Just..
Ew.
*LAUGHS* Oh man. There's a bit for you. Almost worth not seeing enough Ianto this episode, just for that. As the alien is extolling the um... virtues of its human body, they cut to a shot of Ianto, who just quirks an eyebrow, just a bit. It was the timing... maybe you have to see it.
Oh. Yikes. "Not again, please, not again!" Can one person say enough "poor Ianto"s?
Way to beam thoughts, Jack! Woohoo! I'm just GUESSING, here, but I'm GUESSING that the Time Agency might have done some psychic training of their employees. For one thing, he did have psychic paper. And deliberately sent the 'wrong' message to Rose. (Come on, he SO did that on purpose.)
Oh! Oh! Continuity! In some shots, Ianto's jacket is partly unbuttoned, and in others, it isn't. Or at least, it's 'closed', whether the button is done or not.
Jack's mad. But this is the second time his crew has kept major, life threatening, security threatening secrets from him. So I guess you can't blame the guy, I mean, look what happened with Lisa... this could have been soooo much worse.
I knew it, Jack COULD tell she was trying.
Jack's JOKING! GOOD BOY! "What do bosses do in these situations? Regular bosses? Do I get to beat people?"
*grumbles* I didn't see Ianto at ALL on the promo for next week. There is not grumbling enough in the world for how I feel about THAT.
I'm encouraged by Jack's attitude in this episode. Bit more like old Jack. Is good.
However, not encouraged by the utter lack of Ianto and the way too much Tosh, who I still don't care much about because even after a whole episode about her, I'm left feeling like she's the tin dog. That... that's just not good writing, right there. I should CARE, now. I guess I care more. But not much.
That's about it, for now... Gotta have some time to digest all this now. And now I can go read the Torchwood comms again. Ha!
