um so theres a smorgasbord of bomb-ass albums coming out this year. Check it out!!

• We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank- - - Modest Mouse      {this is kind of questionable, since the guitarist from The Smiths has now joined the band and probably changed the dynamic a little. The single "Dashboard" is catchy, but it sounds like The Killers could have crapped that one out. I have higher expectations of Isaac Brock!! Lets hope we listen to the rest of the album and hate it, then listen three more times and realize its amazing. No more Killers poop.

• Armchair Apocrypha- - - Andrew Bird     {everyone download "Imitosis"! Its badass. I mean i dont know. He's walking a fine line between "pop-y" and his original weird-ass stuff. But i like this one. Its a remix of one of this older songs. I cant wait to hear the rest of the album and SEE HIM IN CONCERT OHMIGOSH!!!

• Neon Bible- - - Arcade Fire    {actually i dont know. i listened to the little itunes clips and saw them perform on SNL and i only sort of like one of the songs ("Intervention"), but i honestly thought it was from their first album. I remember thinking that their second album would either sound exactly the same as their first album, or completely different and not as good. I think they did both. Its still cool they have a new album anyway. I'll probably buy it so i can be cool and hip.
  

• Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?- - - Of Montreal      {booya. i only listened to the stupid itunes clips again but it sounds reeally good. They arent really shouting as much as they used to. I like "She's a Rejector".

• Lon Gisland- - - Beirut     {i almost peed my pants this EP is so good. I cant get over how awesome thig guy is. "Elephant Gun" is totally on my top 100 favorite songs forever. I would give my metaphorcal left nut to see him live.
  

• Wincing the Night Away- - - The Shins    {I think their sound is evolving nicely. Theres a lot of cool sounding songs on this one. I like "Phantom Limb".

• Yours To Keep- - - Albert Hammond Jr.    {I KNOW!! Its the guitarist from The Strokes! And he's actually pretty good! I mean you can still kind of tell he's from The Strokes. Sounds a little Stroke-y. But less drunk. "Call An Ambulance" is really good! Hes playing a ukulele! That automatically makes a song like ten times more awesome. Unless youre Raffie.
  

• Rarities- - - CAKE      {i actually dont know anything about this album other than its only available on their website and I think its on a totally independent label now. Or maybe i just made that up. Im pretty sure thats the story though. "War Pigs" is the single but i dont really like it. I think their bleeding hearts need to start clotting pretty soon or the government is going to come and make them "disappear" with the Dixie Chicks. Communists. ...just kidding

Bright Eyes and Yo La Tengo also have new EPs but theyre just meh.

Sorry. I had to get my crtical snot out somehow... so i blew my nose all over my livejournal! I hope theres something new and wonderful somebody likes there.

I bet there are EVEN MORE badass albums coming out this year... but im all done with my brekfast and need to get real shit done now. If you know anymore badass albums, now is the time to share.
