Books 6, 7, and 8

So I am sadly, SADLY behind in my reading this year. I'm just hoping I'll be able to get 25 under my belt by the end of this year at this rate.

Books 6 - 8 were the His Dark Materials books ( Golden Compass , The Subtle Knife , and The Amber Spyglass ) by Phillip Pullman.

I am SO glad that I borrowed these from a friend. I ripped right through them (I'm also behind on posting, since I read these about two months ago). I found the story to be incredibly compelling. The worlds were rich and deep. I loved the way the story unfolded like a gently opening flower throughout the three books.

One thing I feel important to comment on is the perception that these books are in some way "Anti-God" or are trying to say that there is no God. I can see where that could come from, but from what I read, they are far more about being anti-organized-religion. More anti-authority knowing what's best for everyone and attempting to control the world (or in this case, multi-verse).

While I don't think a 10 year old would get that, I DO think that adult and older teen readers definitely would.
