The girls I was telling you about... I met them because I knew their mother, who had a serious drug problem. I used to take care of them the majority of the time when they lived with their mother. She eventually got arrested for drugs, and the girls were in foster care for 3 years. The mom was supposed to go through rehab and then get the girls back, but she disappeared and didn't keep up contact with the DCFS people I guess. Anyway their dad got custody of them after three years... but for those three years they were moved from place to place every six months or so. It is hard to get a true story out of their dad, but the girls have told us that they were with different aunts and different foster parents, each of whom told the girls they were going to be adopted by them. The dad said that the littlest one was being "auctioned" off and that the adoption agency was "asking" $30,000 for her, he also claimed that they tried to strike a bargain with him that they'd give him custody of the older one if they'd let the littlest one be adopted. He says this is because she is in high demand because she's white, blond haired and blue eyed and looks like a little girl from a storybook. I thought it sounded insane but I wanted to ask you if you had ever heard of anything like this at all , you seem to have a pretty realistic and truthful view of the "system" and I wondered if the dad's story is at all realistic, or why else would they have moved around so much?????? - Angel
