Anticlimatic Moments and Sunday Weigh In

Aug 19, 2012 12:31

I've been consumed with thoughts of growing up lately. It actually kept me awake last night. I was thinking about all those moments that a girl looks forward to for their entire lives. For instance, the first day of high school, their first kiss, prom, when that special guy asks that special question.

I was also thinking about how anticlimactic and downright horrible some of those moments we look forward to for years can actually be. Its awful and embarrassing to say but I'm still not over what I bad time I had ar prom. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't all a disaster. But if I had the choice to erase it permanently from my mind I would give it some serious consideration. Honestly, there was a point where I didn't want to go anymore. But it was too late by then, we'd already spent a lot of money and time.

Thinking about the way I cried my eyes out at that dance still makes me upset. I should be over it, but somehow I'm not.

And I'm wondering how many other moments will be like that in my life and how many will be just as special as I hope them to be. (My first kiss was pretty special, in a shocking sort of way.) Women romanticize things like prom and being proposed to, but all too often those moments are very anticlimatic and even normal after all that anticipation.

But that doesn't make them any less special or important. That's something we have to remember.

On a totally different note.

Its time for my Sunday Weight Loss Update! I'm proud to relay to all of you that I have lost a shocking amount of weight!

4 pounds.

(Since the beginning of this challenge.)

I come in at 171 pounds this week, even though I haven't excercised nearly as much as I should have. But between all the working and eating improvements, I think that helped compensate for the lack of exercise- helping me lose that pound I gained back last week. So, with my determination meter still running high- I only have 36 more pounds to lose. Which, doesn't seem so terrifying.

senior year, life, #40 pound challenge, dance, excitement, people, #hopes dreams and other nonsense, #oh yes i do reflect, love, excited
