Top ten update

1. We spent quite a long time in the garden today. We planted chard, turnips, carrots, beets, and basil, all under some old windows that were given to us, so hopefully it all stays warm enough.

2. And I fixed my bike! Replaced the shifter, unstuck the derailer that got stuck because the shifter was broken, replaced the brake pads, replaced the grips, replaced a broken quick release skewer, put the summer tires back on, and tweaked and greased everything appropriately. It rides so nicely now.

3. I went to a conference in Boston a couple of weeks ago, which was a great time. I was pleased at being able to understand the talks a lot better than last year.

4. After the conference I stayed for a day with cos, who showed me around the city, and dreams_of_wings had us over for breakfast. Also had lunch with an old family friend. It was a lovely day.

5. There was an exam when I got back, which I did well enough on. Classes are more than half over (and next week is spring break, so none at all)! I'm very much ready to be done with classes.

6. Our paper came out, and it's going to get some good publicity, which is nice.

7. I'm still having fun in the lab.

8. We're starting back up the book club we used to have four or five years ago. I'm really excited about it because it's a group of very insightful people. I enjoy their company so much and learn a lot from our conversations.

9. I got my bridesmaids dress for my brother's wedding, and my assignment for which relatives will stay with us. I'm looking forward to the whole thing, and seeing everyone who will be in town. I'm a little worried about missing the last day of class and still passing the final, but I have a couple of days after folks leave to catch up, and I don't honestly think I'll fail.

10. Our summer vacation is starting to take shape. We haven't had a vacation just for us in a few years (more than a three-day weekend), so I'm super excited about this one.
