Our house renovation has started. It's one of those things that's been "in the works" for a long time, then one day the status changed to "we can start next week." We had asbestos in all of the drywall, so an asbestos team took out what we needed to remove. They finished up today. I haven't seen the lack of walls yet- maybe we will go by the house tomorrow.

In the meantime we are staying with Brendan's mom. We set up the basement with our stuff, so it's a private space that feels ours. We can hang out with the parental units, but we can also go into our own room and watch movies or read. I think it will work out well, and I'm grateful that they're letting us stay here, since it would have been difficult to rent a place for just a couple of months.

Classes started last week. I'm taking Quantum 2 and Atomic & Molecular Spectra. I imagine Quantum will be about like it was last semester- a lot of work for a lot of gain- and Atomic seems like it will be pretty laid-back. Things will most likely be pretty intense in the lab this semester, because we have a grant deadline coming up. I spent today machining some tiny, fragile pieces of silicon, and mostly breaking them.
