So technically my birthday is July 22nd, and I was going to have a small, quiet little party to celebrate it, but let's face it, I and all my friends and aquaintences will be too busy that weekend reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Instead, I thought, what I'd REALLY like to do would be to get together in a big group a little after that to discuss and celebrate the book and movie releases!
Hence, despite the short notice, I and certain denizens of Melville Keep (kestrell and alexx_kay, to be precise*) are holding the:
HARRY POTTER POST-MORTEM PARTY
(Note that no comments are intended on whether or not a certain someone kicks the bucket in the last book. We'll all find out soon enough.)
Saturday, July 28th
2 PM until we run out of stuff to talk about, or at least run out of steam.
Melville Keep in Dorchester
(FYI: shuttle buses are likely to be running in place of the Red line. Come anyways! Directions etc will be forthcoming soon, likely in a friends-locked post.)
Watch the movie and read the book and come prepared to discuss them like mad!
(If you haven't yet, come anyways....we'll plan to have a spoiler-free zone.)
Wear that marvelous costume you made for the release parties, or that really cool Harry and the Potters T-Shirt, or the nifty new-agey snowy owl t-shirt you bought 15 years ago and never wear (just tell everyone it's Hedwig).
Bring all your favorite Harry Potter themed food! Anyone got a juicer and a great recipe for pumpkin juice? Been dying to whip up a batch of treacle tarts or cauldron cakes? Pumpkin pasties, anyone?
(Ordinary food welcomed too. We are equal opportunity noshers.)
(I myself hope to try and compare a couple of ideas for butterbeer, with varying degrees of alcoholic-ness. Anyone have something that can add fizz to liquids, like an old fashioned seltzer bottle? If so, let me know!)
The four movies on DVD will be available for viewings if desired, and I will also be bringing my collection of Wizard Rock cds: Harry and the Potters, Draco and the Malfoys, the Whomping Willows....
*My efforts to use lj user tags in this post are causing very strange things to happen with formatting, and I've been trying to figure it out for 30+ minutes, and I'm tired. I hate finding bugs outside of work! Grrrr!
