I was looking forward to the new TVB series "M Club"
《女人俱樂部》for a while now. The main reason was because it had a lot of "seasoned" TVB female actors from +10 years ago. Not to sound rude or anything but I remember watching their dramas when I was growing up ^^;
So far, I think the target market for the show is women over their 40s as it follows a group of women who were best friends when they were younger. Old wounds are reopened as they reunite and review how their relationship fell into deterioration over the decades.
I watched the first episode and it was kind of...underwhelming. I didn't really like Carman Lee's character very much; since she's not really very good at acting in my opinion, that is, she has the personality of a plank of wood (suited her role on The Legend of the Condor Heroes perfectly). She doesn't infuse her character with anything special but maybe that makes her more relatable to the audience?
However, I'm looking forward to the next episode when I see Flora Chan and Fennie Yuen - they were the most memorable when I was growing up. I'm liking the bio and previews for their characters, even if they both sound quite similar (modern, successful and independent working women). However, I'm guessing that their characters will probably fall shamelessly into that stereotype that successful working women are FAILURES in their love life *facepalm*
Anyway...I hope it gets better in the next episode... XD
