So, as you may know, a gin and tonic is an incredibly refreshing drink, particularly as the weather gets warmer. I thought to myself, "You know, I could really go for a gin and tonic... or two or three...." Here are a few lessons I learned from my experience:
1) Tonic water is very, very hard to find in Canada. Don't ask me why. I finally found a generic brand at a large grocery store, but it took me two days.
2) In a pinch, do not substitute club soda for tonic water. Club soda is plentiful in Canada, but while it may make a good whiskey sour, and while it may work well to remove stains, it does not taste good with gin.
3) If you are going to open a bottle of tonic water, open it over a sink, not in your room near to a bunch of important books and papers. My books and papers are now covered with tonic water.
4) Whatever is in tonic water, it sure is sticky.
On the upside, once I finally managed to make myself a gin and tonic, it was delicious. Sure, it took me a while to find the necessary ingrediants, and sure, some of my belongings are now tonic-soaked, but in the end, it was well worth it.
In summation: gin and tonic, an excellent summertime drink.
