How to destroy a civilization:
Devalue the old until only youth is acknowledged.
How to destroy a people:
Devalue traditional child-rearing, until no woman deigns to do it.
Observe the conditions in those countries where women are 'liberated'. Low birth rates have forced those countries to import labor. Currently, many have conflict because of the clash of culture and/or not enough resources to take care of their elderly.
Observe the conditions in those countries where the aged are no longer allowed to contribute. Rashness rather than wisdom rule. There is talk of euthanasia because of age, lack of respect for history, or simply having lack of patience for the aged.
I know this is not a perfect analogy, but rather a pattern I've observed through my study of history.
Oh wait! History is 'irrelevant'! Never mind.
