[Before heading out for the day's errands, Japan leaves a message on the network.]

Pardon my intrusion, but I find myself curious...

How many of you here work with electronics on a normal basis?

[With that, Japan takes Pochi and his journal and heads out across town. He can be found in the grocery store getting food for the Phantomhive house, ( Read more... )

I'm a programmer---I've done a few things with electronics here and there. Why?

Would you happen to have any knowledge of how to make a liquid crystal display monitor with the equipment on hand here?

Ooooh, that's a tough one. Even if I had the equipment, I wouldn't have the industrial processes in place to pull it together. There aren't any LCD monitors in the shop? Or available through the Malnosso?

....T-the Malnosso....? [Can you hear the fear/uncertainty/stomach ulcers in his voice, April?]

[Guess who eventually made his way back here!

The square - It rang a bell. So he will ask.

Hi, Japan.] Is this Luceti? [I know you're thinking "why ask?"

Ryoga is under the impression that there is more than one village.]

[JUMPING because whoa, someone is talking to him. Pochi just barks and then sits down, wagging his tail.

When Japan turns around, he is somewhat surprised to see Ryoga there, but he hides it well.]

....Yes? Do you not remember it?

[Ryoga isn't much of a voice guy.]

I remember it enough...why?

...[Now Japan is confused.]

Isn't this entire area known as Luceti...?

[...because let's face it, Rise with electronics? No way, that's Naoto's speciality.

Instead, when you're out doing grocery shopping, Japan, you might notice someone famiiliar deeply contemplating something in the chilli and peppers section. Particularly of the powdered variety.]

Which one...?

[He has a basket over one arm and a list in his hand when he sees Rise contemplating....chilis? He approaches quietly and then clears his throat, bowing his head.]

Are you having trouble with something, Rise-san?

[Yes, peppers. Thai green vs jalapenos, actually, though she's leaning on the side of jalapenos.

When he greets her though, she jumps and quickly places the two back onto the shelf.]

Noooot really! Good morning, Japan-san!

[Staring. Staaaaring. And then he looks at the shelf for a moment before looking back at her.]

Good morning, Rise-san. How are you today?

That is very kind of you... It is unfortunate he is not here. I would have liked to see the two of you together.

[Just strollin' on by the square here, on her way to the grocery store... when she's struck by an oddly familiar feeling. She stops, giving Japan an odd look. Where the hell does she know this guy from? She hasn't seen him before, right? Why is this so familiar...

Frowning thoughtfully, she decides she'll speak up rather than just be That Weird One-Armed Chick Staring.]

Oi. I don't think that dog is learning much of anything.

[Pochi is just sitting and wagging his tail at all of Japan's efforts, so yes, Baiken, you are right. The dog isn't learning much of anything mostly because Pochi doesn't care about shaking hands. He cares about wagging his tail and now he cares about yipping at Baiken in greeting.

Japan sighs.]

I am afraid you are right... I thought I could teach him one of the tricks I see America-san's ani-- [Here, he turns to see who he's talking to, only to freeze at finding Baiken right there. akjdf;a Right. Acting normal again.] --mals do. He doesn't seem to be taking to them.

[She caught that slight snag, but she's too busy with a) an overwhelming feeling that she knows this guy, and b) getting hung up on where she knows "America" from. Wasn't that what they used to call A-Country?]

"America-san", huh. Kind of a weird name for someone.

[She pauses, the small frown twitching a little lower. The familiarity is starting to bug her.] ...What kind of trick were you trying to teach it, anyway?

[After talking to Ryoga and having him freak out, Japan is a bit more wary about revealing country status.]

...It is normal for where I come from.

[Pochi gives up trying to learn and goes over to Baiken, wagging his tail, meaning Japan gives up and stands, patting his clothes back into place.]

Shaking hands. America-san's animals are so good at it.
