I love and miss my kids and grandkids!
And, when I see them, I just love to hug them and kiss them on the head!
So…when I talk to their mothers (our daughters) I always tell them to “hug ‘em and kiss
‘em on the head!” It is definitely a vicarious expression of my love for them!

On one occasion, talking on the phone to Sarah, mother of Emma, Andrew and Eric,
who happened to be out of school for the day, she anticipated my standard
“hug ‘em and kiss ‘em on the head” sign off and the conversation went like this…

Sarah: And please don’t tell me to ‘kiss them on the head’. Maybe you should just ask me not to beat them into submission.

Me: (laughing) Well, sometimes when Bayley is being precocious, I kiss my finger and then just touch her head.

Sarah: Well, then, maybe I can kiss my hand before I knock some sense into them?

Moral of the story?   "Sometimes kids need to be throttled!  Or at least throttled back."
