Well, it was a solid vacation. I likely won't see my grandmother for a year, and my mother, two years. But overall, this has been an excellent week, and a great vacation. I often lament the distance I find between myself and my family, and my quiet brooding is probably the only reason I haven't moved away any futher. By being aware of the distance between us, I do my best to keep it as painless as possible. It doesn't work, but I keep trying all the same.
The week was a blur, but memorable. I spent an evening in a waffle house with old friends, discussing the sodomized fate Indiana Jones suffered. I spent an evening gaming with old friends who seem to never change. I spent a delightful evening with a woman whose presence was as intoxicating as the single malt whiskey I favored during the night.
Perhaps the only disappointment was the later. I chose to end the evening gracefully, and chivalrously. I scarcely even remember the drive home, the hour late, lost in my own thoughts of the evening's events. It was a wonderful time and I'm thankful for it, even if I didn't get my 15 dollars in songs.
