I can't say how it happened, or when, but as of late, Ive developed a taste for heavy metal music. When I try to classify my tastes beyond that, into the various sub-genres of metal, I get a little lost. I would not say I prefer hardcore, or Scandinavian numetal, Blackmetal, Super blackmetal, or vegetarian progressive grindcore. I just know what I like, and I play it loud. Five years ago, I would have laughed at the music I listen to now. Funny that.
Next week, I fly home for Christmas. I land the 22nd, and fly home the 28th. My mother is making a suprise visit, so my grandmother should be quite elated. We so very rarely can all three be together. The last time would have been at my aunt's funeral last October. I'm looking forward to seeing my old friends as well. The instant I touch pavement in Pensacola, we're heading to my favorite old watering hole. I'm even taking my personalized mug that I used to hang over there bar. I intend to drink until I can't feel feelings anymore.
I'm also looking forward to just seeing my old town. I used to think Mobile was a shithole of nothingness. That attitude changed when I visited downtown Baltimore, which has taken that title with authority. Frankly, Philly and NYC weren't much better honestly. For whatever reason, Mobile still holds a certain charm for me.
So huzzahs all around. Off to the gym I go.
