Called in crippled today

Mar 30, 2009 19:13

Yesterday, moved a ton or so of wet, mucky clay out of our front yard. 200 or so pounds at a time. Did this with shovel and handcart. By dinnertime, I was feeling it. By 11, could barely bend down to pick up dropped objects. So, I emailed TPTB at work and said I'd be out sick today. Fistful of ibuprofen at bedtime, and I sort of slept through the night. Spent a goodly chunk of the morning in bed, with more ibuprofen. Getting up involved tottering downstairs with more ibuprofen to the Den of Iniquity, with lumbar-supported chair and heater. I finally felt more-or-less human again around 1500.  Got the Burnermobile to Jiffy Lube, portioned out yesterday's crock of chili, and froze what we didn't have for dinner this evening. This batch had disks of hot Italian sausage, cubes of London Broil, and ground turkey browned with jerk seasoning. It met with the Furball Seal of Approval, of course.

Meanwhile, my 401K provider has a system whereby one can borrow from it. The loan I'd negotiated, landed in my Credit Union account today. Emptied (but not planning to close) three credit cards, paid A.'s credit card for the water pipe job,  With the credit card payments out of my budget, I'll be paying off credit union and car loans at an accelerated pace. Result, by 5 years from now I expect my debt level to consist of mortgage, and possibly a car if I need a new one. Since the Burnermobile, current model, is of a species that typically starts hiccuping at a quarter-million miles, I suspect that car payments are not going to resume any  time soon after the B-mobile is paid off.

In the miscellaneous-stuff category, also renewed my SCA membership and pre-regged for Pennsic. Got a fair amount done today, since it could be done while sitting on my duff.
