Taking Chances
The first time Fai revealed any part of his past to Kurogane was when they were both close (so very close) to dying.
He didn't see any way out of the situation at the time (or maybe he did, though he didn't care to think about it and act quickly enough). It was his only chance to have some of the heartless, cruel weight of the heartless, cruel world taken away from him--what better time than now to take that chance?
Fai didn't say much, but he decided it was enough for him to leave the world more peacefully. He told Kurogane how someone was after him, that he was safe for the time being, but still felt the need to run, run, run (as fast as he possibly could). He thought that if he died, it was fine (because the afterlife seemed welcoming to him every second of every day, anyway). If he survived somehow (which seemed impossible, really), then there would be other times like this, where Fai could easily have the option of giving up his life or not. As for Kurogane, he wouldn't care to tell anyone else about what Fai told him, because he didn't seem to care about anyone but himself. The words would hastily be forgotten.
Fai was (a little more than) disappointed when he made it out alive. His clothes were torn, his skin was wounded, and he was exhausted, but still (unfortunately) alive.
