Severus paced in the courtyard. He knew that the servants were worried about him, but he was more worried for Laticus. His husband had been away in battle for longer than was required.
“Papa! Papa! A letter has arrived!” his eldest son yelled to him from the hall. Severus left his pacing and ran to the front entrance.
A messenger held the letter out to him. He grabbed it. “Marcus, pay the man and then gather up your brothers and sisters.”
“Yes Papa,” the boy smiled at him and did as he bade.
Severus clutched the letter to his chest. Hopefully it was good news.
