'Pun-ishment' (Power Rangers Time Force, Katie/Trip, #23)

Title: Pun-ishment
Author: Mariko Azrael
Pairing: Katie Walker (Time Force Yellow Ranger)/Trip Regis (Time Force Green Ranger)
Fandom: Power Rangers Time Force
Theme: #23, candy
Disclaimer: Saban and Disney's, not mine
Notes: All the popsicle puns in this story are authentic. My Mom bought a ginormous box of Dora the Explorer popsicles a few days ago (one of the many fringe benefits of living with a four-year-old), and after helping myself to a few this fic just sort of happened.

I feel kind of guilty writing this, since I've already done a lot of Katie-centric fluff (I swear, I am working on Trip fic/angst fic, really!), but like I said earlier, this just sort of evolved on its own. That and my 'Eric eats lunch with Katie and Trip and character study ensues' fic has been kicking my butt. =/

Also, with this fic I'm halfway done with my claims. Hee.

It had started out innocently enough, with Wes and Trip pooling together their spending money to purchase an economy size box of Popsicles. Popsicles manufactured by a company that thought their product would somehow be more appealing to consumers if they printed corny jokes on the sticks. Corny jokes that Wes thought were hilarious.

"Guys, guys! What do you call a lazy bison? A buffa-loafer!"

"Hey Jen, what do windows bring when they go out in the sun? ... Shades!"

"You're gonna love this one: what do you say to a tent with a split personality? You're two tents."

Lucas glared. Jen threatened to jam Popsicle sticks in his eyes if he ever opened his mouth again. Katie grinned and bore it (and thus became Wes's favorite victim).

Trip not only laughed out loud each time, but also began following Wes's example.

"Katie? Know why the computer went to the doctor?" Trip beamed at her brightly, half-eaten lime green Popsicle in hand.

She used to laugh it off when her brother would tell her in no uncertain terms that she was too softhearted for her own good. She wasn't laughing anymore. But still, this was Trip, so she managed a smile and prepared for yet another bad play on words.

"I don't know, what?"

He paused for dramatic effect. "Because it had a virus!" Trip collapsed into a fit of giggles while Katie slapped her forehead.

That's it. I'm putting a stop to this, now. And with that, she grabbed him and kissed him.

"Uh... I-I... um..."

"Yeah, I figured you'd say that." She stretched her arms over her head, pleased with her work. "By the way, next time you want something sweet, try some candy. That way I won't have to punish you."
