It didn’t matter what he said. It didn’t matter how he said it. It didn’t even matter the language he pleaded in. No matter if he screamed or cried or flailed or whispered he would never be heard. And if he was heard and understood it wouldn’t matter.
Because he is the kind of person Kurogane hates the most.
He almost just wants to push his non-existent luck, flat out show the ninja how he feels, just to be shot down fantastically.
In a way it would be the perfect suicide. He could finally kill his heart and let his body rot somewhere alone on some world many forevers away from home.
The then everything would be like it should.
The princess and the boy would get their happily ever after.
…And Kurogane would go home marry Tomoyo-hime and have children and grandchildren and be happy for the rest of his life until he died at a ripe old age surrounded by his family.
That was exactly what they would get because that is exactly what each of them deserved.
He didn’t deserve to be happy. Can’t even risk the possibility that he could be because it would mean death for everyone else.
And as much as he is in love with Kurogane, he will never say anything because he cant bear the thought of being responsible for another death of a person he cannot loose.
Because loving is letting go when you know you cant ever make that person happy.
For the rest of my life, I’ll love you from afar.
