Author's Notes: Yeah, I chose not to make this that overused ‘OMG I’ll always be there for you’ ‘ZOMG I’ll always be there for you too’ cliché. Also, I am very, very sorry that this is later than my deadline. My internet died a month ago and I've been without it since. I swear, it's the honest truth!
“Come on, Cloud!”
“Stop being such a pansy!”
“Have a go!”
“It’s easy!”
He raked his fingers through blond locks, a frustrated sigh slipping past his lips. “Maybe for you.”
Roxas slowed to a stop before him, closely followed by Sora. With a quick step on the back, he held his board by his side. “C’mon Spike, you’re making a fool of yourself.” He jutted his thumb over to where a familiar, older brunet stood. “On camera.”
Cloud glared at Roxas, at Sora and then at Leon. “But I can’t skateboard,” he bit out.
“You snowboard! It’s the same thing!” cried the shorter blond, waving his thin arms about frantically, trying to emphasise his point. Sora nodded beside him.
“Give it here.”
Outstretching his arm, he took Roxas’s board and tentatively placed one foot on top of it. He sighed heavily, concentrating on the patch of sidewalk ahead of him.
“You can do it, Cloud!” cheered Sora.
Taking heed of the boy’s encouragement, Cloud pushed off, rolling down the slight hill, surprised at his own sense of balance.
It was going great! Roxas was right: it was just like snowboarding! Now silently confident, he smirked to himself.
“Whoa, look at that!” Sora pounded Roxas’s shoulder, pointing desperately in front of them both.
“He can backslide grind!?” Roxas exclaimed, disbelieving. “But he can’t skateboard!”
Leon tracked the blond’s every movement. It wasn’t often he got the chance to humiliate the blond soldier.
The two younger boys whooped and cheered as Cloud neared the end of the rail, the skateboard grinding out a metallic sound. Everything was going perfectly.
Suddenly Cloud felt the board jolt beneath him as it hit a small piece of metal that jutted out, sending him flying forwards and onto the concrete, landing on and grazing his knees.
He winced, precariously getting to his feet. Blue eyes widened. “You…” he began.
Sora placed his hands upon his hips, feigning shock at Leon. “Are my boyfriend!” he continued, filling in the blanks.
“You’re..!”
“Meant to catch me?” Roxas offered, bending down and inspecting his skateboard for any damage.
Leon smirked, pressing a switch on the camcorder. A compartment opened and a small cassette was ejected. He held it up. “I did - on camera.”
