Reluctance
Satoshi doesn't know what to make of the ring that Kosuke gives him.
Darkness surrounds it, and it's best left in the shadows, forgotten and never used, Satoshi thinks. But he doesn't successfully convince himself of that, because it comes from the Niwa family, and everything they offer is so very pure.
If he wears it and allows it to activate, Krad may take over his body and cause more damage to the world. But Satoshi doesn't think he can use that excuse, because the ring is meant to drive the monster inside of him away--even if it only works once.
If he uses it, it might only bring him more pain and loneliness and Satoshi doesn't know how much more he can endure before breaking. But he doesn't think that he can't truly take a risk, because this generation of the Niwa family has never tried to hurt him before.
And so, in the end, he puts it on his finger carefully, hesitantly, silently hoping that no misfortune comes from it all.
