Title: One missed call
Pairing: Jin/Kame
Prompt: #017 Comfort
Rating: PG
The moment he hears Jin’s going the LA for an undefined time, is the one when Kame would have needed the comfort the most. But because life’s a bitch there’s no one to offer it. Kame tries to call Jin, wants to talk with him, hear everything from the man himself. Wants to hear, how long, he wants that the most.
Jin doesn’t pick up.
When Jin’s plane lands to LAX, he’s confused as hell. Jin’s pretty sure that’s where he wants to be for a moment. Quite sure. However, when he gets to the apartment that will be his for the next six months, his stomach decides to twist itself into a painful knot. There’s nothing, absolutely nothing in the place. All he wants to do is to return to the airport and take the next flight to Tokyo. He calls Kame in the deepest pit of desperation, looking for Kame’s always comforting voice and words. He wants to hear Kame say you can make, it won’t be long, you’ll be back before you know it.
Kame never returns his call.
Title: Sit back, relax and let yourself go
Pairing: Ryu/Hayato
Prompt: #012 Energy
Rating: PG-13
Ryu has never been able to understand Hayato in some ways. Ever since they were kids, it’s always been Hayato and Take bouncing in every direction, talking at a mile per minute and Ryu feels he gets left behind all the time.
Hayato’s energy is surreal to Ryu, even when they grow up a bit and try to be adults in high school. Ryu watches Hayato get into trouble day after day, knows it’ll be his job to go and make sure Hayato comes out alive.
It’s the day after Ryu bows down in front of Ara High when Ryu is absolutely stunned by Hayato’s energy. When the older boy confronts him about the events of the previous night, Ryu’s face stays carefully blank even if he can see Take out of the corner of his eye. Ryu doesn’t understand where Hayato draws his power from at that moment when he himself is barely able to speak. So when the blow comes, he’s not expecting it. The second one a bit more so, yet he doesn’t make a move to stop it from connecting, doesn’t make an effort to get Hayato’s forgiveness. He knows it’s futile and he wants to maybe have the energy to limp back home when Hayato’s finished with him.
Time passes by and forgiveness and mutual friendship are reached. Ryu’s life returns to normal with his return to school and to Hayato’s side. The older boy shows no signs of ever slowing down. When they kiss for the first time, it’s the actual first time Ryu feels Hayato’s energy first hand, the hands on his shoulders, on the lapels of his school uniform, his shoulders, everywhere. Hayato’s everywhere and Ryu is overwhelmed. Ryu thinks of Hayato’s energy as a constant in his life when they’re older and Hayato’s pressing him hard against the door, kissing him on the couch, passionately fucking him into the mattress.
Hayato’s energy is overwhelming and at times it tires Ryu out, but he wouldn’t have it any other way.
Title: I’ll be there to catch you
Pairing: Jin/Kame
Prompt: #009 Tree
Rating: PG
Jin’s four, and barely able to reach the first branch of the tree with his fingertips. His mother watches him worriedly from where she’s sitting on a bench a little further. She’s not scared that he’ll fall, no, the kid has always had a hard head. She’s afraid Jin’s not going to make it, because she wants him to reach the top, whether it’s a tree or life. That day Jin swears he’ll show the tree who’s the boss.
Four years later, Jin’s eight and able to get up into the tree. He’s climbing higher and higher and his classmates are encouraging him to go higher still. He’s seven meters off the ground when the branch brakes and he’s tangling in the tree with one hand. He chokes off a sob and turns his gaze down to ask for help, only to find the people he thought to be his friends already scattered through the park.
Six more years see Jin turn fourteen. He’s a fresh Johnny’s junior and he can’t afford to be seen climbing trees, much less to cause branches to break and fall from the said tree. Still he sneaks into the park after nightfall and goes to his tree, climbs up and just sits. Jin can remember the tree since forever, but he can never remember anybody else ever climbing it. But one night he first hears then sees a scrawny boy come up to the bottom of the tree. Jin instinctively curls himself up, tries to make himself less noticeable in the fear of being discovered. Then a young voice calls out to him, a voice he instantly recognises, and he immediately relaxes. A few minutes later he finds a young Kame peering at him from where he’s perched at a branch near by. Jin feels oddly relieved and smiles, receiving an even larger grin in return.
Years keep on passing by and that particular tree witnesses all of Jin and Kame’s ups and downs. That’s where they kiss for the first time (Jin’s sixteen when he carefully moves to sit next to Kame on a branch, almost falling down in the process. It’s awkward, but they don’t need anything more.) It’s where Jin flees when he hears of Shuuji to Akira and where Kame finds him, coaxes him down to the Earth’s surface, unable to follow him into the tree because of a sprained ankle (Jin’s stubborn and they yell back and forth until Kame’s tears get the better of Jin and he descends to scoop the fragile boy into his arms.) Jin and Kame can’t think of a better place to celebrate debuting (they try to have a picnic in the tree one night, but Jin keeps dropping the food and Kame’s nearly falling down because he’s laughing too hard). It’s where Jin finds Kame curled up after he told the younger man about his hiatus (Kame’s curled up as much into a ball as one can be while sitting in a tree. It takes Jin almost four hours to get forgiveness of a sort, yet Kame doesn’t talk to him for several weeks). It’s where they reunite later when Jin returns from LA (they share sweet, sweet kisses and fall from the tree together, too busy to even care while furiously clawing at each others’ clothes).
Now Jin’s close to twenty-six and he still climbs up to the tree in the darkness of the night. Why, you might ask. Jin’s not very sure himself, but when Kame turns up twenty minutes later he can’t think of a better place to be.
