Summary: They travel to Canada to learn about hockey there and find something important

This is an AU. It's stated several times that this is an AU about vampires. If this isn't your thing, then don't read it. Easy.
Pavel wrapped his arms around Henrik's waist and rested his chin on the other man's shoulder. They were watching Nicklas skate around on the pond, cheeks red and blond hair fluttering in the breeze. He was beautiful.
"Yes he is," Henrik replied softly. Pavel smiled and shook his head, amazed by his lover's ability to know exactly what he was thinking.
"Pavel, Henrik," Nicklas said as he skated toward them, one of his cousins walking in the opposite direction. "I just received word that Canada is organizing hockey. They have leagues and official teams. Should we go? See about playing?"
Pavel nodded. "Canada? We haven't been to Canada yet. What do you think Henrik?"
"I think it sounds like a great idea," Henrik agreed. "I'd love to see what they're doing differently."
"You just want another excuse to play more," Pavel teased.
Henrik smiled and nodded. "Maybe. I can't play football all the time, can I?"
"Why not?" Nicklas smiled. "You look great playing football. I could watch all day."
"He's right," Pavel laughed. "But you look amazing playing hockey, too."
Henrik laughed. "You're both biased."
"Not biased," Pavel said softly.
"We just love you," Nicklas finished.
"I love you too," Henrik said, a large smile on his face. He went on brightly. "So ... when do we leave?"
"I'll get started on the arrangements when we get back to the house," Pavel replied softly. "We'll need to find chosen and someone to help us get used to the land.”
"I can take a few of my cousins with us," Nicklas suggested.
"That would be good," Henrik said. "How much do they know of us in Canada?"
Pavel shrugged. "As far as I know, it's been years since our kind has been there." He stepped away from the two men and sighed heavily. "I don't know if anyone is still there that would know about vampires." He paced along the lake for a few minutes before stopping in front of his lovers. "I'm not taking you there and potentially putting either of you in danger. I'm going to town. I will return before nightfall." He turned sharply on his heel before disappearing out of sight.
"That was...unusual," Henrik whispered.
Nicklas nodded, watching as Pavel disappeared from sight. "Come," he said to Henrik as he took his skates off. "Let's go."
"Where are we going?" Henrik asked curiously as he followed Nicklas toward the general direction of the houses.
"To talk to my uncle," Nicklas answered. "Pavel's not the only one wondering what things will be like over there."
~*~*~
Pavel slipped quietly into the house and carefully made his way up the stairs. He could feel peace through the bond, so he was hoping that both his lovers were asleep because he was late. He gently opened the door and stepped into the bedroom, stripping off his clothes as he walked to the bed.
"We were starting to wonder if you were coming home tonight," Henrik said, breaking the quiet.
"I am sorry," Pavel whispered. "I have the trip planned though." He ran his fingers through his hair. "It took a bit longer than expected but I did find a family of chosen. Candice is sending a message to them and they will meet us at the dock. I am sorry I lied, my love."
"Why did you think you had to?" Nicklas asked.
"I really thought I'd be back before nightfall," Pavel replied. "But it's almost dawn."
"We would have helped," Henrik pointed out.
"I'm sorry," he repeated and stepped closer to them. "I just sometimes feel that I need to take care of you both. I don't want you two to worry about anything."
Henrik and Nicklas both laughed softly and pulled Pavel toward them. "We love you, but you can't do everything for us," Nick said gently.
"I want to," Pavel replied as he wrapped his arms around both men. "I want to take care of you both." He breathed in the smell of his two lovers. "I love you two and I love making you happy. We leave in two days for Canada. We'll have two chosen on the boat with us and they know the family that will be waiting for us." He smiled and kissed Henrik's neck before kissing Nicklas' as well.
"Thank you," Nicklas said. "I love it here, but I can't wait to be there."
"You just want to see what they're doing on the ice," Henrik teased.
"Yes," Nicklas agreed immediately. "But there's something else." He shrugged. "It'll be an adventure."
~*~*~
"That's amazing," Pavel stated, shaking his head as he watched the Canadian players on the rink. "The goalie is crazy though."
Nick grinned. "Look at him." He flinched as a puck almost hit the goalie in the face. "You're right Pav, he's absolutely insane," he said as the man knocked the puck away, laughing.
"Wait," Pavel whispered as he leaned to the side and rested his head on the wall. "Nicklas? Henrik? Can you two feel it? I don't know who but one of them is our - "
"It's the goalie," Nicklas interrupted absently.
"What?" Henrik asked, looking toward the men on the ice. He frowned slightly as he concentrated on the men they were watching.
"The fourth," Pavel replied. "The goalie." He smiled. "He's Nicklas' main piece. I'm glad we found him."
"He's beautiful," Henrik replied as he studied the goalie.
They watched the game intently, admiring the speed and skill of the Canadian players.
"He doesn't know about vampires," Nicklas said suddenly.
"Are you sure?" Pavel asked. "Do you know who he is?"
"I don't know his name," Nicklas admitted. "But how many chosen are in this area?" He recoiled as the puck bounced off the goalie's shoulder. The puck was sent back down the ice. "How do we approach him if he doesn't know about our kind?"
Henrik smiled. "We just introduce ourselves," he replied. "Get to know him. It will be easy."
Pavel laughed as the practice broke up and the players skated off in different directions. "Then let's go down and see if we can play with them."
Henrik and Nicklas followed after him, but Nicklas quickly took the lead, reaching the team a few steps in front of them.
"Hi," the man greeted, looking up at them with an easy smile. "You guys play?"
"Yes," Nicklas replied.
"Great. Name's Chris," he said as he held out his hand.
"Nicklas," he greeting shaking the man's hand. "And this is Pavel and Henrik."
"Nice to meet you," the blond man smiled. His grin grew when an outraged shout drifted toward them. "Just a second," he told them.
"Of course," Henrik replied as Chris walked away.
"Yes, that's him," Nicklas whispered. "I'm sure of it."
"Sorry," Chris apologized when he returned. "I had to go take credit for something." He looked at them quizzically. "You're new to town?"
"We're from Sweden," Nicklas replied.
"Really?" Chris smiled. "We've heard great things about European players but we haven't seen too many of them yet."
"How long have you been playing?" Henrik asked.
"Personally, since I was three. With these guys? Two years. What about you three?"
"Almost all my life," Nicklas answered. "These two have been playing longer than you'd believe."
"You bring your skates?" Chris asked as several men started skating around them.
"Yes," Pavel replied. Chris smiled slowly.
"Go put them on. We'll play a quick game."
A few minutes later they were on ice, skating down the rink shooting the puck at Chris.
~*~*~
Pavel walked up behind Henrik and kissed his neck softly.
"Love you," he whispered against the sweaty skin before dragging his fangs along the slightly stubbled surface.
"Love you too," Henrik moaned as he leaned back in Pavel's embrace.
"Nicklas is skating with Chris and won't be home for hours and I'm hungry for something Swedish," he teased before breaking the skin and sucking gently. As Henrik moaned, Pavel thought he heard footsteps approaching.
"What the..." a slightly familiar voice muttered.
Pavel pulled back and they both turned around.
"Chris," Pavel began when, as he knew they would, they saw the shorter blond man standing behind them. He could feel Henrik's dismay and worry.
"This is a joke. Benny's getting back at me because of what I did to his skates," Chris said unbelievingly, but he couldn't look away from the drops of blood that were currently sliding down Henrik's neck. When he finally did, it was only to look at Pavel's still extended fangs.
"Chris," he tried again and took a step toward him.
"Wait," Chris said as he took a step back. "What's goin' on? Is it Benny? Or is someone else playing a prank?"
Pavel retracted his fangs and ran his hand along his mouth. "Chris," he said softly. "This is not a joke." He looked back at Henrik and saw the still bleeding wounds. "Hold on," he requested. "Please? I cannot have him hurt." When Chris nodded as he still stared at them, Pavel turned back to his lover and licked the skin, closing the wound quickly. He rubbed Henrik's arms for a moment before turning back to Chris. "We need to talk; or rather we have something we need to tell you."
"What's going on?" Nicklas asked, walking up behind Chris.
Chris flinched in surprise. "Are you like them?"
"Chris walked in on Henrik and me," Pavel replied. "It appears that we will have to tell him sooner than expected."
"Are you like them?" Chris repeated as he tried to step farther away from the men.
"Yes," Nicklas replied. "We won't hurt you," he promised. "We will never hurt you. We don't do that. We're probably what you think we are but we don't hurt people."
"Why don't we have a seat and I'll start from the beginning?" Pavel asked.
Chris glanced around, trying to figure out if he wanted privacy or people around for this conversation.
"Chris," Nicklas said quietly. "Please?"
Pavel took a chair and placed it next to the open door. "You can sit there and we'll be on the other side of the room. Will that make you feel better?"
"Y-yes," Chris replied as he took the chair.
He smiled. "We are vampires," Pavel began as he told their story. He told Chris about mates, about meeting Henrik and Nicklas, their chosen and finally ending with softly, and vaguely, explaining about how they were still missing a piece and believed he was in Canada. An hour later, he leaned back and smiled. "Any questions?"
"Yes."
"Are you going to ask?" Nicklas asked when Chris didn't go on. Pavel reached out and squeezed his shoulder reassuringly, trying to dispel the unease that had been building in his lover.
"Are there other vampires in Canada? Everyone knows the legends, but they're always set in other places. Does it hurt to be fed from? What happens if you can't find your mate?"
"I believe there might be a few in Canada. We found a family of chosen, the Yzermans, but I have yet to find other vampires." Pavel smiled softly. "To be honest, I haven't been looking," he admitted. "We have found our fourth but if he decides not to be turned, we go on. None of us will turn him unwillingly and we will wait until his soul is reborn before looking for him again. Henrik and Nicklas can explain the feeding better than I can. I am the last born-vampire so I was never human and when they feed from me, I am sure I experience different emotions than they did." At Chris' quizzical look, he continued. "For me, the experience with my mates’ borders on the euphoria that one feels from an intense orgasm," he explained.
"It's pleasant," Nicklas said. "But it varies. When it's with your mates before you've bonded, it's more vivid than you can imagine. Everything is sharper." He paused and shrugged sheepishly. "It's hard to explain."
Chris nodded a bit. "You've found your fourth?" he asked them.
"Yes," Henrik whispered. "We found our fourth."
"Who? Do I know him?"
"It's you," Henrik mumbled looking down at his hands. Pavel brushed his hair out of his face lovingly before looking at Chris.
"He's right. It's you. Now that you know about us and know that your soul is destined to be with us, it is up for you to decide," he softly explained. "We won't think any different of you if you decline."
"This isn't an elaborate joke?"
"No."
"You can feel it," Nicklas whispered.
"Maybe," Chris said. He was quiet for a minute. "Okay."
"Okay?" Pavel asked.
Chris shrugged. "I've always been up for anything once. I'm still not sure about this," he admitted. "Vampires. Who would have thought it?"
"It's true," Henrik said.
"Yeah, I guess it is, isn't it?" Chris asked as he stared at the Henrik's neck.
Pavel laughed. "You, dear Chris, are definitely one in a million, as the saying goes." He smiled gently. "You said you were unsure, so now everything lies in your hands. We will still be around you, nothing in our behavior will change toward you, and it is up to you to let us know when you want to be turned. I will not turn you until you are sure."
"Thank you," Chris said. He laughed uncertainly. "I'm not sure about the turning thing," he admitted.
"We won't push," Pavel promised.
"We'll just hope you eventually say yes," Nicklas warned.
"Thanks," Chris said with a smile. "Could ... could one of you feed from me?"
"I can't," Pavel replied softly and studied Nicklas intently for a moment. "It is my soul that is coming together and I would not be able to stop until you are turned. Henrik could, the pull is not as strong as it is with Nicklas and I."
"What?" Nicklas asked.
"I told you about pieces, yes? Well, Henrik is the main piece of my soul, and I am his. I am sure that Chris' soul is the main piece of yours, so it would be difficult for you to only feed from him. The urge to turn him will be great and he is not ready for that. Henrik is the only one that his feelings will only slightly magnify and not completely overwhelm him."
"One day we're going to get you to explain everything," Nicklas told him. Pavel only smiled.
"Do you want me to feed from you?" Henrik asked Chris.
"Yes," Chris replied as he looked at the three men. "I do."
"Okay," Henrik agreed. He walked over to Chris and pulled him into his arms. "This won't hurt," he promised, placing a soft kiss against Chris' lips before licking across his neck and carefully sinking his fangs in.
A few seconds later, he pulled back and licked the wound closed.
"That was..." Chris trailed off and touched his neck. He smiled when he noticed the lack of blood.
"Did it hurt?" Henrik whispered as he slowly lowered his arms and stepped away.
"No," Chris said in amazement. "Not at all."
"How do you feel?" Pavel asked.
"Hard," he admitted with a slight blush. He studied Nicklas and Pavel for a long moment before nodding. "I would like tonight to think but first I would like to do two things."
"Of course," Pavel softly replied.
Chris walked over to him and pulled the dark-haired man into his arms before kissing him deeply. Pulling away quickly, he stepped to Nicklas and wrapped his arms tightly around the taller man before leaning up and capturing his mouth in a deep, passionate kiss.
Nicklas wrapped his hand around the back of Chris' neck, pulling him closer. He pulled back reluctantly, smiling at the slightly glazed expression in Chris' eyes and his swollen lips.
"Chris!" the shout echoed toward them a few seconds before one of his teammates appeared in the doorway. "Come on, we have a game," he reminded him.
"I'll see you later," Chris replied with a smile before disappearing out of the room.
"Oh God," Nicklas moaned. "That's what it’s like when you kiss Henrik? No wonder you two are always kissing."
"What do you mean?" Pavel asked with a laugh.
"Like you'd be happy doing that for the rest of your life. I didn't think I could get this hard from just a kiss," Nicklas laughed.
It was Henrik's turn to laugh as he pulled Nicklas to them. "Let us take care of you. Hopefully we'll be complete soon but for now, you'll just have to live with us," he teased.
"And that's such a terrible thing," Nicklas laughed as they fell on the bed.
~*~*~
"What are you smiling about?" Pavel asked Nicklas as they sat in the stands, watching the game.
"I just am. If you'd told me a few years ago that I'd be mates with two vampires and in Canada, searching for our fourth, I would have thought you were crazy," he said. "And now--"
"Now you can't imagine anything else," Henrik finished.
"Exactly," Nicklas agreed as he watched the puck bounce off of Chris' shoulder. "I can't believe we're all hockey players."
Pavel laughed. "Same here but at least we have something in common and we're not being drawn to people we can't relate to."
"Pavel," Henrik laughed. "If you are supposed to be new and from Russia, you might want to break up your English."
Pavel shrugged. "One day I'll surprise you both and only speak in Russian. What will you do then?" he asked as the game ended.
"Maybe we'll surprise you by answering you in Russian," Nicklas smirked.
"You're going to learn Russian?" Pavel asked as they made their way down to the ice.
"If it's good enough for you," Henrik teased. "Besides, you speak Swedish."
"Of course I do," Pavel laughed. "I speak a lot of languages and I've spent more of my life in Sweden than in Russia. I needed to learn the language to communicate."
"You made it," Chris greeted with his customary wide smile as he wiped the sweat from his face. "What do you think? You wanna try out for one of the teams?"
Nicklas grinned. "Do you really think that's a good idea?"
"Of course. We need all the good players we can get," Chris said before mumbling something else.
"What was that?" Pavel asked.
"Want to get together tonight?" he vaguely asked. "I've been thinking about what we talked about last night and I'm sure. No doubts."
Pavel smiled. "Excellent. Come by when you're done here. We'll be at home, trying to talk Nicklas into trying out for one of the teams."
"I don't see what would be bad about joining a team," Nicklas said.
Pavel laughed. "I know my love. We'll see you tonight."
Chris nodded. "We'll discuss the game, practice a few things and I'll see you in a few hours," he promised.
~*~*~
"Calm down," Pavel whispered as he kissed the back of Nicklas' neck. "You are too tense. He said he would be here."
"I know. I'm just nervous," Nicklas replied, leaning back against Pavel.
"Don't be," Pavel encouraged as he gently pierced the skin before licking the blood away. He smiled when he felt some of the nervousness ease from the other man's body.
"He's the last?"
"Yes," Pavel nodded. "I believe so. It is extremely rare for there to be more than four."
"He's late."
"They were going over the game. Think about how Henrik is with football."
"You're right," Nicklas agreed.
"Of course I am," Pavel laughed as Henrik walked into the room, Chris right behind him.
"Sorry," Chris said, smiling. "Had to hide a guy's skates; took longer than I expected."
"Why?" Pavel asked.
"I have to keep them from taking themselves too seriously," Chris explained, smiling at both of them. He looked to all three. "So ... what happens now?"
"Now," Henrik smiled. "We ask, are you sure this is what you want?"
"Yes." Chris nodded. "I am ready to be turned. Sounds like a great adventure and I am looking forward to getting to know you three better."
"You must decide how you want to be turned. What you would like to happen before, this is. After you are turned, your instincts take over and you honestly have no control. You will make love to all of us before morning but what happens prior..." Pavel smiled.
"How were you two turned?" Chris asked as he looked at Henrik and Nicklas.
"Pavel fed from me before we made love. He turned me and we made love again," Henrik answered.
"Henrik fed from me before we made love. Pavel made love to me and turned me after. Then I made love to them," Nicklas replied.
"Can two of you feed from me before?" Chris then asked.
"Yes," Pavel nodded.
"And you'll turn me?" he asked Pavel. He nodded again. "I want Nicklas to make love to me and feed from me. Then I want you to feed from me and turn me. Henrik has already fed from me, so I'd like to wait to make love to him until after I'm turned."
Nicklas walked up to and wrapped his arms around him. "We have to feed from you to orgasm,” he warned. “This is your last chance to change your mind, are you sure?"
"Yes," Chris whispered firmly, knowing that nothing could happen to make him walk away now.
Nicklas nodded and pulled Chris closer before lowering his head and kissing him softly. He moaned as the kiss deepened and Chris' fingers dug into his back.
Pavel wrapped his arms tightly around Henrik as they watched clothes fall to the floor. "We're almost whole," he whispered in the other man's ear.
Henrik smiled at Pavel, kissing him deeply. "I'm happy for you."
"For us."
"Of course for us," Henrik agreed, but he knew that it was most important of all for Pavel that they were whole.
When Chris cried out, Pavel looked over as Nicklas began to thrust into the shorter man's body. "For us," Pavel whispered. "For Nicklas too. I know how happy you make me and I can't wait for him to feel the same happiness that I do when I'm with you."
Chris arched up closer to Nicklas as he twisted to get closer to him. "Nicklas ... Nick ... Nicklas," he panted in time with the thrusts.
"Come," Pavel whispered to Henrik, pulling him to join the other two on the bed.
"Chris," Nicklas groaned before Henrik leaned over and kissed along his neck.
"Yes," Chris half screamed as Pavel wrapped his hand around the leaking erection and stroked him in time to Nicklas' thrusts.
"Come for us," Pavel breathed against the shorter man's ear. "Let him feel you come."
Chris cried out his agreement as he came hard, clenching tightly around the cock buried inside him. Nicklas hissed in pleasure before leaning down and biting his neck as he came soon after.
"Pull back now," Pavel instructed Nicklas softly, running a hand down the strong back.
"Sorry," Nicklas gasped. He licked the wound closed before pulling Pavel close for a deep kiss.
"You're doing fine," Pavel assured him. He looked down at Chris. "Are you ready?"
"Yes."
"Good." Pavel pulled Henrik close before biting his neck and sucking briefly. He pulled Nicklas to him and bit him as well, letting their blood mingle with his. "It will be painful for a moment but then you will feel better than you ever have," he whispered in Chris' ear before leaning down, piercing the other man's neck and began to drink quietly.
As the heartbeat began to slow, Pavel pulled away and licked the wound closed. Quickly biting his wrist, as he had done with the others, Pavel held it to Chris' mouth. "Drink," he ordered.
Chris latched on and began to suck greedily. Pavel ran his other hand through the blond hair before gently pulling his arm away. "Nicklas," he gently requested and pulled the other blond man close. "Hold him." Nicklas nodded and wrapped his arms protectively around the new vampire.
"Are you okay?" Henrik whispered, wrapping his arms around Pavel's waist.
"I think so," Pavel whispered, feeling the parts of their soul start to come together. "It's going to be okay," he promised the other two when the first tremor shook Chris' body.
"He hurts," Nicklas whispered as he looked up, tears streaming down his face.
"We know," Pavel sympathetically replied as he and Henrik lay down next to them, his arms wrapped around Chris' body and Henrik's arms wrapped around Nicklas'. "It will pass. I promise."
Nicklas whimpered as Chris cried out. "How long?"
"Just hold him," Pavel encouraged. "It will only last a little while longer but to you it will seem like forever."
Nicklas nodded and tightened his hold on Chris, placing a soft kiss to the younger man's blond hair. Several long minutes passed before he looked up. "It's starting to ease."
"Good." Pavel smiled and leaned over to place a soft kiss on Nicklas' lips.
Chris' blue eyes slowly blinked open. "I..." he moistened his lips. "Thank you."
"Thank you," Pavel corrected, kissing the side of Chris' mouth. "We're almost done now."
"Nicklas," Chris groaned and reached for the man. Henrik and Pavel both moved away as they came together and completed the bond.
~*~*~
Pavel walked the dark rooms to the house as his three mates slept upstairs. He had to be wrong. He was so sure this was it, he had hardly heard of a group of mates larger than four but here he was. He sighed heavily and stared out the window at the dark early morning sky. He was wrong. He just had to be.
