Dolls (what else?) & a little writing

There is absolutely no hope in hell of them matching the head (and subsequently the body) that they are for, but that doesn't matter a bit to me as I intend to dye them blue along with the hands I still need to purchase as well as the upper arms for the body I'll need to get. I've never dyed resin like I will be for these pieces and while I'm a touch nervous about it, I'm also excited to do it. Customization is one of the big draws for these dolls. The forearms are white and the hands I'll purchase will be white (dying those should be fairly straight forward). The body, however, will closely match the head, which is a colour called oriental, which in turn is close-ish to what is typically called normal yellow in the hobby.

I wasn't certain of the colour of the forearms before I bought them and normally that would be a huge deal as resin matching is quite often a tricky and even frustrating thing with each company having different formulations and even massive variations within a company depending on year or even batches within the same year (I'm looking at you, DollZone and Soom). Add in the fact that all resin mellows over time to take on yellow tones and something that started out paper white can become cream coloured several years (or even several months) down the road. There's even resin from a company known in the hobby as beauty green (their white is called beauty white) because of an unstable white batch several years ago that actually had the resin acquiring a pale green tone to the white in about a year. Jolen, my ResinSoul old blue, has actually mellowed to a lovely shade of soft turquoise. Fortunately for me, that works fine for his character. I think he was part of an unstable batch as all my other RS dolls in fantasy colours have retained their original colour or it has mellowed so subtly and evenly that I can't see any difference.

I'd originally thought to do a sort of gradient dye job on the parts with the hands being the darkest and the part of the upper arms being the lightest. But now that I'm thinking about it, it might make my life a whole lot easier to do the opposite. Dye the darker resin darker (which would likely take the dye that way as it is a darker colour to begin with) and make the hands the lightest parts. I believe I'm going to leave the clear resin fins on the forearms as clear. I think that'll look pretty cool next to the blue/turquoise I plan on using.

It may yet be a while before I can get the hands and body for Wu-Tyr but this hobby is all about patience. I am saving for my trip late this year and while I believe I'll have plenty of time to save, it's a slog as the Canadian dollar is abysmal *sigh*. Basically, for every $100US I need to save $150CAN. No, that's not a typo. Our dollar is honestly that shit-tacular right now with no signs of it gaining ground anytime soon. Considering that doll prices are typically in $US and dolls are generally pricey hunks of resin... yeah, you can see where this is going, right? The only plus side is that the body I plan on getting him is on the lowest end of the dolly price point and they frequently have sales on said bodies dropping the price to about $100US for the body I need. Add in shipping and I'd be looking at about $150US which would probably be about $225CAN, a total steal for a body for a large size doll (he'll be 62cm). The hands I want are $23US and I need to figure out shipping for that. It'll probably be about the same price as the hands themselves *sigh* since they'll be coming from Korea.

I want to post the next part of Naicree's story tonight. Cross your fingers for that. I also need to re-post the first part as I've changed the spelling of his name from the first story. I also have a stand-alone that is fairly long to be posted. Yes, I've finally decided to just post the novella for free as I don't think it'd get wide reception to most of the reading public. Anyone have suggestions for sites to post original fiction as I wouldn't mind getting more exposure on this story. I have an account at AdultFanFiction and I know they used to have a section for original fiction but it's been so long since I posted there I don't even remember my password or if they still have a place for original works.
