Winter is finally here...

Over the past two and a half days Flagstaff has received 24 inches of snow and it's still going. It should stop around 3 PM this afternoon and when all is said and done we should have around 27-30 inches on the ground. Before this storm hit we hadn't even seen an accumulation of precipitation all winter. Both sky and ground are white and I can't see my car under all this snow.

However, I was finally able to get out and use my snow deck (picture a skateboard for the snow) on some rolling hills out here. It was so much fun using that thing on more than just a small hill where the ride lasts 3 seconds. Shayne, Liz, and I went to a clearing yesterday during the storm and packed down a path to sled/skate on. It had many turns and many hills to go over, all adding up to a sweet line for us to use. On one ride down said hill I hit a snow bank where my snow deck stopped but I didn't. I flew through the air and landed right on my ass. It hurt a little bit, but I was more concerned and shocked about the fact that I ended up eight feet away from the board. That was one hell of a ride.

Anyways, it looks like we'll be able to enjoy this winter wonderland for at least the rest of the week. By Friday it's supposed to be mid 50's and sunny again so I'll put in as much sledding time as possible in the next few days. Better late than never I guess.
