Stealing entirely without mercy from aurora77.

The rules: Here are lyrics from 25 songs off my playlist randomly chosen by iTunes. Reply with artist, song title. Comments are screened, everyone who guesses correctly wins credit. No Googling (or using another search engine). That's cheating. I've tried to pick "harder" lyrics for more well-known songs and "easier" lyrics for more obscure songs, to even out the challenge a little.

I didn't skip any songs to make myself seem cooler, but I kept it to one song by each artist to diversify a little. Also I cut songs which I knew were alternate versions of other songs where I didn't have the song by the original artist (because making you guess the group that's covering isn't fun.).

1. No one thought I was good enough for you, except for you. Don't let them be right.

2. Someone to look good with and light your cigarette. Is this what you really want?

[LJSUMB (The Stanford Band) - Yellow River]

3. Whenever heaven's doors are shut. You kick 'em open but I know you.

4. Run, run young man through the glen.

5. And by the way the house looked, she must have took it bad. The workers come on Monday to fix the door and patch the wall.

6. I can blow a thousand Deutsche marks to get drunk in a pub with some Australians. -- annaonthemoon, mahmoth

7. You will well inform me, I am well aware that I don't belong here. You've made that perfectly clear, I get my ass kicked damn near everywhere.

8. Kids are alright but I need my fix, if you diggin' the mix, feelin' the drugs.

[A violin polka, no lyrics]

9. My friends all grew up and they settled down; nice little houses on the outskirts of town.

[An a capella remix, have lyrics but totally unfair since they'll just point to original songs]

10. I only wish I knew your secret! Who is this new tutor?

[Reel Big Fish - 241, no lyrics]

11. Back in the days when love was so easy, I was fancy free and laughing with no reason.

[Camille Saint-Saens - Tortoise, no lyrics]

12. Your skin was dark as honey like you'd been sunning 'round the clock.

13. Whatever feeling they had when they sailed somehow slipped out between the notes.

14. From the moment I wake to the moment I sleep, I'll be there by your side, just you try and stop me. -- unspeakablevorn

15. Come on and dance, come on and dance; we may not get another chance.

16. Fear is the brightest of signs, the shape of the boundary you leave behind.

17. Under the cool sheet where the welcome touch of skin and skin will meet.

18. And Cobain can you hear the spheres singing songs off station to station. -- urbankotq

19. Must we starve on crumbs from long ago through these bars of men made steel. Is it a great or little thing we fought, knelt the conscience blessed to kill?

20. We watched him drink his pain away a little at a time, but he could never get drunk enough to get her off his mind.

[Anna's theme from the Red Violin, no lyrics]

21. You feel the burning in your body's core, it's a yearning that you can't ignore.

22. Boy it's so hard, living this life, a constant struggle each and every day. Some wonder why, I'd rather die than to continue living this way.

23. Lose the earthquakes, keep the faults, fill the oceans without the salt. -- urbankotq

[Song not in English]

24. I want to go where the rivers are overflowing and I'll be ready, I'll be ready.

25. The stars are laughing, they get a kick out of my misery.

26. (A bonus because one of the earlier songs is entirely too obscure and will likely be missed.) Lying with his eyes while his hands are busy working overtime.-- unspeakablevorn

Ok, sadly, I had to Google a few of these because I forgot what song they were when I started writing my answer sheet. I'm terrible at this.
