Everyone has posted about going back to school this week I figure I might as well conform.
On monday I have Anth 4532, it's World History and Archeology. I think this class will be an easy A. The teacher tests and lectures straight from his ppts so that means I am not buying the $100 text book! He actually stated, (paraphrasing from memory) "I try to make the class as easy as possible. There's no one who majors in this." After that I go to Phil 3331 Ethics. Which I should have known would be about Ethical theories and history, not the application of ethics in our society. :( Major letdown. The class is from 7-9:50 and our teacher keeps us the ENTIRE time. I would not mind, since that's what I signed up for, if he lectured the entire time but he doesn't (or at least didn't on Monday and led us to believe that was his standard protocol. Instead he spent at least a nonconsecutive hour wasting time on personal anecdotes and attempting to humor us. That is not what I paid for.
On Tuesdays I have WRIT 3037 which may be difficult. I do like the professor. She is obviously very passionate about literature, writing, and words in general. Which I appreciate. However, the majority of class time will be spent doing discussions and I have always retreated from literary opinion discussions in large groups. I just grow frustrated and bored too easily in this setting. The class is designed to help students become better writers and learn how the science of properly writing a college level paper. I will appreciate this information. After this class I have Psyc something or other Social Psychology. Which I thoroughly enjoyed the first day. It is a full class and one gentleman in particular has already gotten on my nerves. (too confident/insecure to sit in silence, must comment on everything) A very nice girl sits next to me and we talked through the break, making the class much more enjoyable. There are also a lot of people from my ethics class in this class and some people from my past summer classes in it as well. The professor seems very entertaining and I look forward to this class next week.
Unfortunately not enough people signed up for my Mandarin class so it will most likely be canceled. Dang. I was very excited about starting lessons too. Since this class was canceled yesterday I spent all day home alone with Lucy (puppy) and cleaned/organized/read to past time. I am proud of what I accomplished but also very alienated by the lack of interaction. When Chris got home he sympathized and we took a walk to Bubble Island and he bought me a tea. :) HE also made dinner and we spent a good 2 or 3 hours just talking to one another. It was very enjoyable.
My little sister just started at UT and I am very excited for her. I know this semester will go by so fast.
