"Taste and See" - From Religion to Geology

May 08, 2006 11:14

I'm excited about Geology! I forgot that I like/sort-of-am-good-at Science. Well, chemistry anyway. And ever since Jamie and I went to the Mariott Rock shows, I've loved Geology. Plus i live in CO near a "point of geological interest!"
I never thought there'd be a day where I'd be thanking "Mr. New-en!" for freshman earth science or be happy about that Chemistry class i had to take with awful mustashed Cyphers. Dave was a good lab partner though. Anyway, Nick and Molly are in my class. I hope that i can deal with 4 hours a day!

I woke up with a strangely VIVID memory of shopping with Anne, Britta, and Cara the Westminster Abbey giftshop. I remember the entire store. Weird.

I had a great weekend. Friday I went down to Lunch Buddies with Heather, but Cassie's class was on a field trip! Boo! Lindsey's lunch buddy is also in that class, so we hung around at the little tables by the office and had a great chat. I hardly know the Roush-a-lot's woman, so this was fun. plus it was windy and there was no wind indoors! We talked to luke the puke as well. Shopped with Robyn and Heather later which was good (got a hot top, yay) and hung out with the boys a bit in the pfeiff-dom for some cake, sourdough rolls, and some Last Crusade. But heather and I split early to go rent Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights. I've decided I love that Julia plays the soundtrack a lot. It rocks sumthin fierce. Heather and I had a nice night.

Julia and I then went to see TIMBERLAND! (I felt like i should shout that as one shouts "TIMBER!") and I really enjoyed it. Saw it twice actually! Casey did great, but so did the entire cast. There were tons of Cornellians at the 9pm show, like 15 of them! It was a great play. I liked taht i met a lot of the actors and stuff earlier at the cast party last week. My favorite scene was the last one between Hannah and Needles when he's trying to get her to come down. It's very charged. Austin told me that after working with Casey he wishes he could have expanded Needles's part. I like Austin, Casey's "beard idol." I am pleased to report the death of Casey's beard. After the 9pm one he shaved it all off and we dashed to the cast party at the stage manager's apartment. It was nice, and we felt very welcome. Sonya is so nice. Wow. we talked about all sorts of things most of which were a bit over-my-head. But that's ok because the ambiance was so superb. We left at like 3 after promising Sonya we'd call her this month.

Sunday was like the most idyllic relaxing perfect day like ever in grand ol' Iowa City. Casey and i slept in SO late (but we were out late so it's all good) and went in town for Brugger's Bagels (mmm wildberry cream cheese). I got this pleasantly surpring drink that was like raspberry and lime and fizzy and we drank that as we just strolled around all day. It was so sunny and warm and breezy out. We tried to rent a movie but the store was out, and the cute little bookstore was closed, but it's all good and we just walked all over town anyway. Casey stole me some lilac flowers off a hugely purple bush, and they smelled amazing. I love lilacs. Eventually we got some Whitey's and I tasted my first sugar cone! With my favorite ice cream - Praline's and cream. Yum. We saw Mike and later David, and this corroborated my theory that they both look so similar that one could easily confuse them, because we did. So here we are, strolling down the street, I was eating a drippy delicious ice cream cone with one hand (which I later got in my hair a little bit. oops!), holding flowers in the other, just happy as a lark.

We caught Bryce's cambus at Currier, rode with him to mayflower, broke into Randy's room, and searched the messy double for about 10 minutes, laughing at how impossible it would be to find anything in there. Eventually though, I found the firefly DVDs we were searching for in their computer area. Casey and I rode the bus/walked back to Quad, and settled in with some sunkist, cheez-its, and disk 3. 'Trash' is a great episode - "I can kill you with my brain." After finishing Disk three, we went outside for some s'mores and hot dogs and brats, because Quad was grillin'! YUMMO! What a fantastic coincidence as we had forgotten to eat dinner. mmm sticky chocolate-a-licious. Bryce came over after he got off of his cambus route and me, Casey, Bryce, and Joel settled in to watch the first episode of Disk 4. *points "Gold!" We had a good time. Bryce drove us back to the hawk lot. there was some deep convo on the drive.

Casey and I arrived at Cornell at like midnight, and hung out with Heather a bit chatting, and then took a late night stroll around campus. saying goodbye is getting harder every week with summer rolling around, but there's still a few more weekends left. By the time he got back to school and called me and we said goodnight, it was 3am, and i was insanely exhausted. Whew. Good sunday. Great Block Break.
