So I didn't end up baking banana bread, and I'm glad, because there were like a thousand sweet things at the party! It was such a good time - Let's see who was there: Me, Casey, Dan, Phil Constantine, Phil Koski, Ben, Shannon, Matt, Koen, Julie, Kyle, Nick, John, Joe, Scott, Adam, Damian, and finally Fr. Schoenig. We met at his Jesuit community house, which was this beautiful late 19th century St. Louis brick home. There was tons of food and a nice spread of drinks, and amidst all the sweets people brought Kyle also got pizza. It was just a REALLY fun relaxing night of chatting and laughing (a lot!) in various rooms of the house with various mingling groups of my favorite historians. I do enjoy my department of friends. :-)
I was a bit sad to leave when we did, but we had to get the PPV set up for friends to come over! My favorite fighter, the super attractive, classy, French Canadian Georges "Rush" St. Pierre won his championship fight (of course) so I was pleased, and although the internet feed through my laptop to the tv was a bit problematic cause the stream was so overloaded, it was still a fun night having people over. Charlie was good cause we gave him a bully stick, which invited a lot of humorous jokes from the gang. We had Matt, Constantine, Ben, Shannon, and Kyle over for UFC.
After the fights, it was like, midnight, but we'd promised Ben we'd play Pandemic. He assured us it wouldn't take long, so the rest of the gang left me and Casey teamed up with Ben and Shannon to save the world from a global epidemic, board game style! It was a co-op game which was fun, because I hate competitive strategy games. We failed, and it's a pretty crazy game, but oh my it was fun. I usually dislike board games, (unless it's something AWESOME like Cranium, obviously) but this was one amusing exception to the rule and I can't wait until we can all play again soon!
