Castleology and Kalamazoo!

May 05, 2009 17:08

Today I am wearing a really cute academic-ey outfit, and I hope my professors and friends don't notice/care that I'm gonna wear it in its entirety again at Kalamazoo this weekend. I'm getting super psyched about going! I will have to attend an Archeology section to score some points with Dr. Finan, and because the speaker I saw today was really really cool. Casey however, is getting rather pouty that I will be gone for 4 days.

On May 5 Oliver Creighton of the University of Exeter will deliver a lecture entitled, "Castle Studies and Medieval Landscapes," in the Knights Room of Pius XII Library at 3:00 p.m.

Prof. Finan's British Castleologist buddy Dr. Cheighton is an excellent speaker and gave a really engaging talk and a very well crafted powerpoint of castles. Plus, he is a young, attractive archeologist (hello, Indy!) and has one of those really pleasant British accents. So all around, it was a good presentation. ;-)

I was reminded again today of why I'm SO GLAD I'm not a Lit. person, even of Medieval Literature. Dropping that major was a good choice on my part. History is just so much better.

Ok. A trip to Schnucks for portable foods to feed myself with at Kalamazoo (so not paying for the expensive meals!) and then more pottery tonight!
