New Apartment, ALMOST decided.

Pics of the potential new place!!! Well, not of the specific unit we viewed, but of the building in general and some of the units, so you can get a sense of its style. I love the cherry trim. It reminds me of my grandpa because he loves cherry (he's a carpenter). I also love granite. So pretty.

I am still worried about the neighborhood, hoping so hard that is will be safe. It is only one block south of delmar, and there are at least 3 abandoned buildings nearby. I know the building is very safe, and it is flanked by churches. I'm just a little worried about traveling around to and from it on my own, especially in the evening after class when Casey has rehearsals. We talked about me maybe only riding to class in the light, and then after class in the evening I could stay at the library studying for awhile til he's off of rehearsal. I'm going to call SLU security today to see if they've had any student incidents over on Washington (they own a building over there).

Yesterday meeting with Jenny was good though. It made me excited about the place. They had two units on the 3rd floor with the larger floorplan we liked, each right across the hall from one another, one finished, and one still under construction. The finished one had a view of, nothing. Of the brick wall of the building next door, or a bit overlooking a pile of bricks, and a brick wall. There would never be sun coming into the unit. The unit across the street was not as finished - still a lot of construction to be done - but the views were much nicer - afternoon sun and I can still see the cathedral. I don't know why that's important. I can also see the parking lot, which is nice because I like being able to see when Casey's home for lunch. Anyway, Jenny made a call, and said the unit could be finished and ready for us by the day we wanted to move in, which is the weekend after Christmas. So, great! She also said we could use the construction lift to move our couch in through the balcony! Sweet! Cause there's no way we could have gotten it through the door. Moving there would have meant storing the couches somewhere and buying new ones for this particular apartment, cause they won't fit through the doorway (it's a weird entrance). So basically, Jenny was really helpful and accomodating. We think we'll sign an 18 month lease, and here's why. If we just do 6 mo, there will be a short-term lease fee added, and in the summer, prime moving season when everything is finished with all the construction, rents will be much higher, and we won't be able to renew the lease with this great price. If we do 1 year, we'd have this same ridiculous moving-in-January issue again next year, and if I don't stay in St. Louis for my PhD, we'd be moving for only like, 6 more months, which is a silly move, and again, we couldn't renew for the same price. So, we'll take this place for 18 mo, which is until the end of my master's program. If we hate hate it, hopefully we can sublease, considering how great the rent is, it probably won't be hard to find someone to take it.
Moving will still be rough, and I'm still sad I won't be there to help Casey and his parents in the process cause of my earlier travel plans- stupid United flight change fees!

I'm glad Casey may have new years eve plans with that play, so I won't feel so bad leaving him all alone in our new place! I hope that works out for him. And I hope he gets into that play he had a callback for yesterday night. He said it went well, (and he looked really great and professional too!) and he was one of three guys called back. One didn't show up, so, any male parts for that show are going to go to Casey or that other guy! I like those odds. And I know it would make Casey feel better knowing the next show after this one is already lined up. He is always trying to plan for the future and make sure everything's on the right path moving forward towards the dream.

Started packing last night. MAN. We are gonna need more boxes for all this stuff. Casey was right all along about keeping boxes I guess! I'll have to pack my pottery really well, since I won't be the one to keep an eye on it and move it myself.

Man, Cesar Milan is a miracle worker! I wish he could fix Joey. And Squeaks! So that when my parents get a new dog, it won't be messed up too! Can't wait to see my pets at home!
