Yesterday I was lazy, and even though I THOROUGHLY enjoyed watching hours of So You Think You Can Dance with Danielle (ugh I love dancing), it ended up making me a little grumpy because I didn't get anything done all day. The evening was far more eventful, even if it did involve much less spinning, lifting, and leaping.
To start it off, Danielle had decided it was high time we'd used our crockpot, so she looked up some good pot roast recipies, and when I woke up that morning the kitchen already smelled of meat - wonderful! There was a big chunk of beef stewing in juices and potatoes and carrots and bay leaves and tomatoes and onions, and so we salivated about it all day in anticipation (between watching dance). When it was finally time to EAT it, oh man, it was so tender and tasty. That is my favorite meal we've cooked here so far.
After that Casey and I headed down South Grand to check out Danielle's THEATRICAL DEBUT in St. Louis at the Tin Cieling. Now, she had kind of given us some mixed reviews about this show when she would come home from rehearsals, and warned us about how the cast had just all finally gotten together and that people are often missing at rehearsals, and how the show's kind of crazy and she didn't know if/how it would be good. So when we got into this little bitty old theatre, clearly set up in a building that used to be a bakery, we went in expecting to have a good time, knowing that it would be better than Congratulations World, but we weren't sure by how much.
OH MY GOD were we surprised when we spent the entire show cracking up. It turned out that everyone knew their lines, the show looked really well rehearsed, it was very witty and cleverly written, and all the characters were just hysterical! It reminded me so much of the type of political/pop culture satire you watch in the movie Spaceballs or on SNL, and was just as good and hilariously done if you ask me. Well, Danielle was right that the title character was a bad actor, but everyone else was fantastic. Especially Danielle - lady, you made me laugh so damn hard. I can't wait to go see it again third weekend.
Another nice surprise was how much neat city there is south of Tower Grove that I didn't know existed!
On the way home, Casey and I sang along VERY loudly to old pop punk favorites in the car, and it made me smile to remember that we have that in common; I'm glad he's not a music snob who makes fun of me for the crappy upbeat music used to listen to so much and still enjoy, and isn't embarrassed to sing it loudly with me. When we got home, Casey and I decided to take a short walk around the CWE, which was nice. I love those crazy street lamps SO much, especially at night.
Scrubs, falling asleep through 2 episodes of midnight Friends, deep sleep.
